Down The Lane, Part 1 - Deem-WOTW

"The place where the world stopped was not so strange, but the vertigo was overwhelming. The girl could not decide whether or not it would be wise to jump."

She was at the top of the cliff. With one more step forward she will be a hundred feet beneath the water. Her life was a mess already- how was the world going to hear this news, that her husband left her on her wedding day for her best friend, Shelia? How was the world going to manage the fact that he had swindled her of all the money she had and eloped with his Lover? That he had blocked her every medium of reaching him. How would she tell the world that she was already pregnant with his child?

"I just have to end this all… this shame is too much for me to bear." She felt the stone move in front of her feet and sank into the river. The memories of him flowed into her head…

"Will you marry me?"

The whole crowd was clapping thunderously screaming "say yes" and she was taken by surprise. Their relationship was just nine months old, although enough to birth a baby. She felt it was a rush and feared that they would make mistakes.

"Please don't say no to me." his blue eyes sparkled under the light. It gave her so much more pressure than the crowd itself.

"Yes." She tried not to make it sound like a sigh. "I will marry you."

The whole crowd cheered as he slipped the gold ring on her finger.

He had made her feel like a queen from that day. They had traveled to France after the proposal. They walked together hand in hand on the streets of Paris. They lodged in many hotels and visited Chinese, Italian, and French restaurants. She had trusted him so much that she made him in the custody of all her properties, she was the sole heir of her parents, the Edinburghs' one of the richest in the country.

She fell so deeply in love with him that it became an affair of no looking back. She remembered how many had warned her of this but she was a blockhead.

They had started planning their wedding…she was spending at least equivalent to 50% of her life savings which was rolling into billions of dollars. She didn't even allow him to spend a dime on it because she felt she alone was capable of doing it.

But he was all a lie

…And he ran away with all the money she had and a lover too.

And she was carrying his child in her womb.

She didn't need to think twice before letting herself fall into the water…she imagined seeing the heavens and hoped her ghost haunted him to his death.

The breeze blew through the light gown she wore as she felt her feet move. She would die and nobody would be able to chastise her for being the most stupid woman in love.

A strong grip suddenly drew her back by the nape of her dress and she fell rough to the ground.

"What the hell!" She screamed.
