Protecting our planet

Many times, I find myself thinking deeply about how much the earth is suffering, and I wish that if I were the earth, I would close up and let all living things move to other planets. The earth has been maltreated for a very long time, and we don’t give it much attention because we feel it is not a living being that feels pain. We need to support the earth because it is ours to maintain, and if it is gone, I doubt there will be any other planet that will accommodate us as well as the earth has done.

What are the ways to keep the earth alive and stop maltreating it?

Reforestation:

The call for reforestation has been ongoing for a very long time, and it's obvious that a good percentage of humans on earth are turning a deaf ear to it. Since cutting down trees is almost unavoidable, especially in rural areas where farming is common, reforestation—which is the act of planting trees to replace those that were cut down—should be encouraged. It is expected that for every tree cut down, more than one should be planted. Trees in the environment play a significant role in safeguarding the earth, thus making it more comfortable and livable for humans. These trees release the oxygen that is essential for our breathing. Now, imagine a situation where all the trees are removed— we would be gasping for breath. Moreover, trees help to hold and bind the earth together, making it less vulnerable to erosion.

Conserve water:

My thoughts have gone far on this... What if one day we wake up, try to pump water, and find that the water underground and streams have dried up? What are we going to do? As it stands, most of us don’t pay attention to how we waste water simply because it's always available by pumping it from the ground. We are urged to conserve water and avoid wastage. Turn off the tap after you fetch water. Just imagine the amount of water we pump from the ground every day, and then think about what would happen if one day the earth stopped producing water out of frustration.

Walk, cycle, or take public transport: Currently, the world is in a competition to see who can own the most cars, which results in the emission of a high volume of greenhouse gases into the air, thereby polluting the atmosphere. Cycling or walking, which are the most recommended methods of transportation, will help greatly to reduce such emissions by decreasing the number of cars releasing these harmful gases daily. Taking public transportation will also help reduce the number of cars on the road, thus lowering pollution levels in the atmosphere.

Recycling of items: Instead of throwing away used items and causing environmental hazards, it is much better to adopt recycling methods. Even if you don’t have the equipment to recycle these items yourself, sell them to companies that need them and can recycle them for reuse. As it stands, almost all items are recyclable, and adopting a recycling lifestyle is highly recommended to keep the environment clean and ease the suffering of the earth.

Thanks!
