Han pasado varios meses desde que nos despedimos de algunos de los miembros más queridos de nuestra familia: nuestras mascotas.
A menudo lo digo, las mascotas no son ni accesorios ni modas, son seres vivos que sienten y padecen, y quienes con su amor incondicional, complementan la unidad familiar. Es tan sólido y hermoso el vínculo que desarrollamos con nuestras mascotas, que el proceso de separación es triste y doloroso, tanto para ellos como para nosotros.
Extrañamos mucho a Pepe, Paul y Gru. Cada uno de nosotros lo hace desde su silencio y desde su propia manera de sobrellevar el duelo de la separación. Lo noto en mis hijos cada vez que los veo acercarse a otros animalitos en la calle, cuando se juegan con ellos y los acarician. Lo veo cada vez que pasan tiempo con Buddy, quien de momento es la mascota más cercana a ellos, aunque apenas lo ven cada 7 o 15 días.
Tener una mascota es una gran responsabilidad que estamos ansiosos por asumir cuando las condiciones lo permitan. Mientras tanto, nos vamos informando respecto a los trámites legales que exige la ley de bienestar animal en este país, y todo lo referente a obligaciones y responsabilidades.
Este fin de semana, asistimos al “XVIII Salón para la adopción de animales de compañía de la Comunidad de Madrid” en el Parque Madrid Río. Allí conocimos el proceso de adopción y a algunos de los peluditos que están en busca de un nuevo hogar. Perros y gatos de diversas razas y edades conquistaron nuestros corazones, incluso a pesar de mis preferencias personales, ya que entre uno y otro, son los perros los que suelen enamorarme. No obstante, los gatos supieron captar mi atención.
Esperamos que pronto estemos listos para dar la bienvenida a nuevos miembros peludos en el Team Carrera.

Several months have passed since we bid farewell to some of the dearest members of our family: our pets.
I often say it; pets are neither accessories nor trends; they are living beings that feel and suffer, and who, with their unconditional love, complement the family unit. The bond we develop with our pets is so strong and beautiful that the process of separation is sad and painful, both for them and for us.
We miss Pepe, Paul, and Gru greatly. Each of us does so in our own way of coping with the grief of separation. I see it in my children every time I see them approach other little animals on the street when they play with them and pet them. I see it every time they spend time with Buddy, who is currently the closest pet to them, even though they only see him every 7 or 15 days.
Having a pet is a great responsibility that we are eager to take on when conditions allow. In the meantime, we are informing ourselves about the legal procedures required by the animal welfare law in this country, and everything related to obligations and responsibilities.
This weekend, we attended the “XVIII Pet Adoption Fair of the Community of Madrid” at Madrid Río Park. There, we learned about the adoption process and met some furry animals that are looking for a new home. Dogs and cats of various breeds and ages won our hearts, despite my personal preferences, as it is usually dogs who tend to captivate me. Nevertheless, the cats managed to grab my attention.
We hope that we will be ready to welcome new furry members to the Carrera Team soon.
