Brunch at Grumpy Joe - One of Baguio City's Places to Eat

I think we can be that hangry at some point. When one is hungry, one can be moody. Cool name for an establishment and the logo makes one curious about it. Really catchy.

From our walk, we decided to have brunch at Grumpy Joe - Gibraltar Branch. This is an old house that is now refurbished and turned into a business establishment.

Grumpy Joe is a homegrown restaurant that is loved by locals and tourists alike. Baguio City is known for its good for three servings (which translates to good for three days), meaning good-sized portions. Still, a subjective one for that depends on who is eating. Suffice it to say that they serve more than you expect.

That is exactly what Grumpy Joe does. Of course, it is not just about quantity but also quality. Their food tastes good and satisfying. Price is competitive as well although one might be wary of how each meal costs but don't be fooled by that. Wait until the food is served then you will know why.

This is their new location. From a small humble beginning at Leonard Wood, they transferred here. They have also opened another branch at Upper Session Road. Not only that, they have also opened other branches in nearby places like La Union and Pampanga.

This is my first time visiting this new place they transferred to although it has been a while since they have been here.

We have been asked to register first and then wait at the waiting area while they prepare our table. Soon, more and more customers arrived. The establishment was open for about two hours that time and it is already a busy day on a Monday. I think because it is in a touristy area that's why they attract customers that and the name they have made.

There was also a menu in the reception area where one can choose from and preorder while waiting for a table to be available. It would be smart to book a table when you plan on coming here so you don't have to wait especially when during busy hours.

The stairs lead to the bar and cashier where there are also tables. To the right are more tables and the toilet. To the left is the main dining area.

The tile pattern of the stairs seems to match the chandelier.

I like all the natural light coming in. The brown color of the tables and chairs and lighting fixtures is a nice contrast to the white paint inside and out.

The obligatory sink/toilet/mirror photo. We could have loved to dine in here but it was reserved.

If there is one thing I would recommend for them to improve, it's the toilet. There's only one common toilet that's why there is always a line.

Minimal decors can be seen throughout. I like some of the indoor plants as well. They mimic the environment outside.

We sat in front of the bar because that is the only available table that time. We started ordering food while waiting for our companions to arrive. It was one of those unplanned moments and we just called whoever is available to come.

We were informed by the staff that orders will arrive around 20-30 minutes. It's fine for we have no other plans that day. We were surprised that it arrived no less than 10 minutes. Even when we kept ordering additional food as more and more friends arrive, our orders didn't take that long to be served.

We started with their signature juice and refresher. I can't remember now what was the difference but the refresher has soda water in it. Both have lemon and lime I think.

We ordered their all meat pizza special, buffalo wings, chicken tenders, seafood pasta and pulled pork fries.

We didn't manage to finish all those. The food was distributed to whoever wanted take-out.

Overall, Grumpy Joe delivered and we had a tasty and delicious meal. I like the ambiance and the overall interior of the place. Serving time is okay. Food portion is plenty. Price is right. One thing I noticed about their staff though is the lack of product knowledge. I noticed that at their other branch too and also here. Whenever we ask about certain food or drinks, they have to go ask somebody else about it. They need to improve that.
