Really... Stealing Garden Tools???

Arrrrrghhhhh... this is just pretty annoying. But I guess that we have ourselves to blame as we keep our garden tools in the open carport. But then again, why do we have to live in a society where some people think that it is okay to take things that they don't own?

So, this morning, I woke up to a large branch having dropped from one our trees... well, dropped, it was a wattle, so it basically split from the main trunk. Interestingly enough, I had taken a photo of it recently from the roof... and it is still there waiting to be included in a gardening post. It was a lot more horizontal than I had remembered, and it got onto my list of things to deal with. But, gravity and a bit of rain made it happen faster than I had thought it would. Thankfully, nothing damaged...

... anyway, I thought that I was going to make short work of the branch with my chainsaw on a stick... and the motorised stick part was attached to my line trimmer. And I got the chainsaw attachment from the storage... and hmmmm... where is the line trimmer?

... wait a minutes, where is the lawnmower? And the blower? I've been a bit overworked and busy with things, but now that I'm looking around the carport... the familiar garish yellow/green of the Ryobi tools are missing.

Taking stock of what is missing, the lawnmower (we still have the battery and the bag...), the blower (with a battery...), the pruner (no battery), and the line trimmer (very dirty, and we have the battery.

The most annoying part is the lawnmower... that cost a fair bit, but a good chunk of that was the battery, which we still have. The rest was about two years old, so annoying... but not crazily expensive. But still, about 1000 AUD to fully replace new. But I think we will likely be poking around to try and replace them second hand now. Well, except for the lawnmower... that might have to be a proper full replacement, those don't seem to show up very often.

So, not financially devastating... more annoying than anything else, seeing as we don't really need another expense at the moment. But we don't have to replace everything straight away anyway...

But it is more an annoyance that people feel that they are entitled to take things that don't belong to them... perhaps I'm still just too naive and idealistic... but why? Sure, I get that perhaps people might need the money... but don't they think that they are perhaps stealing from people who might ALSO not be able to afford to lose things? Grrrrr... in the end, there are people who are worse off than us... we can eat the loss... it stings, but it won't be a disaster. But the ding in my faith in people is going to take a bit to repair... Poopbutts!

Time in buy a locked garden shed as well...
