What's my toking followers? Bring you another awesome update on the plant being grown for the 5-gallon grow challenge put on by none other than @jonyoudyer.
Maple Cookies
Strain Name: Maple Cookies
Strain Type: Clone
Strain Breeder: Trinitygenetics
Growing medium: Supersoil
Growing Ferts: EWC & Compost Tea & Top Dress
Cookies Kush (OG Kush Rolex Pheno x Girl Scout Cookies)
x
Canadian Glue (GG#4 x BC Kush)
Maple Cookies was bred using our purple pheno of Cookies Kush and our Stud Canadian Glue. This strain is Indica Dominant and will be ready to harvest in 8-10 weeks of flowering.
As you can see the maple cookies is one dank sounding strain, I have not had the likes to get to smoke one yet but I can tell by the mother growing even after a BIG nitrogen problem that she is a keeper.
Growth
With the 5-gallon challenge well underway, I am lucky that I have this re-veg clone that I am using for this as it will need to be grown out quite a bit so I can train this plant.
She has had some great growth over the last week, We are starting to see some nice new side shoots that I am thinking are going to get tied down.
The hight has been staying on the low side, I am happy about this as I want to try and keep it lower while I train it.
Cover Crop
I have planted a nice think layer of cover crop, The cover crop I have picked now is just a white clover with the plan to add a couple of grasses with barley and oat, I will only be adding 1 or 2 of each of these just to give a little different root growth and nutrient management.
I have been doing research and it seems that having just one crop is actually bad for pest and soil biology. I have been hearing it may be best to add many different types of crop even companion plants like basil and other "cash" crops.
Top Dress
When it comes to the top dress this week it was very minimum. The soil I built if you recall from the last update I layer EWC and amendments in the pot. These will likely do most of the grow but I will be adding small weekly EWC to make sure the nutrients are staying in the soil.
After week 2 I will be adding small rock dust mixes to it with some kelp and alfalfa. The 2 main top dress I use is kelp and alfalfa.
