Spencer Zahn Drops News of New Album, Statues II
Spencer Zahn has something big in store for his fans. He's announced the arrival of Statues II, which is the companion to his earlier release, Statues I, unleashed in August this year. Together, Statues I and Statues II form a double album. Fans can expect the full experience on November 17.
He's given us a sneak peek of what's coming with the new song, "High Touch." In a statement, Zahn explained that this song initially started as something he thought would suit a singer, a love song with a celebratory and triumphant feel. It was a dedication, much like the entire album. The song was born with chords played on a Fender Rhodes, with the harmony built up by adding a Yamaha CP70 and CS50. As the sound came together, it took on a vibe more akin to a Jon Hassell recording than a vocalist's song. Spencer Ludwig joined in, playing the trumpet, and the song's identity quickly took shape. With the soprano saxophone by Chris Bullock, drums by Booker Stardrum, and additional drum programming and production by Tyler Gilmore, this track became one of Zahn's favorites on the album.
Spencer Zahn's musical journey has included collaborations with Dawn Richard on the 2022 release 'Pigments.' This year, he teamed up with Dave Harrington and Jeremy Gustin to cover Harry Styles' 'Harry鈥檚 House.'
Get ready for the full Statues II experience, featuring tracks like "Changes in Three Parts," "Morning," "High Touch," "OST," "Wind Unsung," "Wave," and "Shadow Setup."
