The São Bento railway station in Porto is famous for its impressive architecture and the magnificent azulejo tiles that adorn the entrance hall. These ornate tiles, around 20,000 in number, tell the story of Portugal with scenes from the country's history, culture and everyday life. Opened in the early 20th century, the station was built on the ruins of a former monastery, which gave it its name. São Bento is not only an important transport hub, but also an architectural masterpiece that attracts thousands of visitors every year. Naturally, I also wanted to try and capture the atmosphere of this unique railway station with my camera. I hope you enjoy my shots and have a great weekend!
Der São Bento Bahnhof in Porto ist berühmt für seine beeindruckende Architektur und die prächtigen Azulejo-Fliesen, die die Eingangshalle schmücken. Diese kunstvollen Kacheln, etwa 20.000 an der Zahl, erzählen die Geschichte Portugals mit Szenen aus der Geschichte, Kultur und dem Alltag des Landes. Der im frühen 20. Jahrhundert eröffnete Bahnhof wurde auf den Ruinen eines ehemaligen Klosters errichtet, was ihm seinen Namen gab. São Bento ist nicht nur ein wichtiger Verkehrsknotenpunkt, sondern auch ein architektonisches Meisterwerk, das jährlich Tausende von Besuchern anzieht.
