Psyrtskha station in Abkhazia - visual story - 45 photos

Hi! Today I will show you a photo shoot in a very colorful and abandoned place. That's probably why it became attractive and mysterious for us, and we even tried to get up early to get here from the hotel before tourists started walking. While my daughter was sleeping with my mother at the hotel, my husband and I went in search of adventures.

Initially, we did not know that this station is located next to our hotel, because it is hidden behind a mountain and trees and is high. We reached the waterfall to take a picture, two cute local dogs came to us. Then we saw the stairs to the top of the waterfall and as it turned out, the station is located there at the top.

Climbing higher up the steps, we saw a mountain river of amazing color and an alley.

After walking along the alley, we saw a building entwined with plants - it turned out to be the eastern tunnel through which trains ran until 2009. Now passenger trains no longer run there.

And then we saw a majestic building that looms over the mountain river Psyrtskha. And the station itself was named after the name of this river in 1967, and before that it was called Dacha and Agaraki.

This railway station looks like a work of art. Psyrtskha is located in the mountains, and a 180-meter-long platform was built between two tunnels in 1954. The platform was designed for commuter traffic, long-distance trains did not stop here.

Ventilation installations were located in these tunnels, providing fresh air. In 1992, during the Georgian-Abkhaz war, the ventilation units were turned off and are not working today.

In 1954, an octagonal pavilion was built, designed by architect Georgy Lezhava. Inside the pavilion there was a waiting room for passengers and two ticket offices. To date, windows have been broken here and photo shoots are taking place against the background of this crumbling beauty.

And then we walked across the bridge and left the station on the other side through the tunnel. And the dogs will take us to the hotel. Thanks to them. Due to them, the photos turned out to be more lively and cute.
