The HIVE Tour - Episode 41 - One tower, one too many exceptional views!

In the previous episode I showed you around Klopp Castle and its wonderful view to river Rhein. Now I am leaving the castle behind to head West and visit other beauties of this region. After an hour plus ride, I get wowed to the view of the river Moselle and the town of Pünderich in the background:

Look at how steep those vineyards are:

Gotta be windy at times up here judging from that toilet on the ground 🙂

That view though... look at that:

Despite the fact that I arrived here after Google Maps directions I get a feeling that this is probably a pedestrian/bicycle route so I go back and park my bike at a parking lot to continue on foot. The view is not much worse here:

The following sign is a spoiler about my next target:

As it shows, I am leaving the parking lot to walk up to the local Marienburg church. From the first steps I enjoy the view to the vineyards:

As you can tell from the parking lot view my bike is the only one here:

"The cross to bear":

In my case it's "the helmet to bear" which fortunately is much lighter though the sun and inclination make it feel heavier. The view pays back generously:

I keep walking up the road goes till I get my first view to a bit of the church:

A short break to admire the outstanding river view:

And here I am finally at Marienburg:

That's an interesting bit:

That's the entrance to the complex from the inside:

If you want you can overnight at this building which offers accommodation and food:

This room hosts an (it's all German to me) exhibition (?):

I'd rather spend the time I have in my hands outdoors so I move on:
DSC_0125.JPG

And as you can see it's not a bad idea at all:

DSC_0127.JPG

It's a hiker's heaven here with so many paths to choose from:

My time is rather limited though so I stay on the main one:

DSC_0131.JPGDSC_0132.JPG

And that's impossible to regret as it leads me to my next target - this tower:

DSC_0133.JPGDSC_0134.JPG

As you can probably imagine, I didn't walk all the way up to here after all these kms of riding and walks I had so far today just to see a tower like this. The meat of the case is to see how the view is from the top so I start climbing this 7 storey metal thing:

And when I make it to the top I get a smile from ear to ear as my jaw drops down to the ground:

This is Moselle river which crosses 3 countries (France, Germany, Luxemburg) and at this point it folds in a way that you can see it double. The view is simply insane and I'd better STFU and let you enjoy it 360 - please be my guest:

Easily among the best ones I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot as you can see in my map.

You can use that thingy if you want to see more than your eyes can:

It's hard to describe it by words and I've already posted numerous pictures so here's a video summarising this part of my epic trip in case it can fill the gaps all the above left behind:

Time to go down now:

And say goodbye to those ultra steep vineyards:

I am not saying goodbye to you cause there's lots coming up soon.

See you on the next one!
