Such a cool place
Charleston, South Carolina is a really cool city. It is filled with so much history and beautiful scenery. One of the coolest parts about this area is all of the really cool trees and moss that grows on them.
Probably the coolest tree in the area is the Angel Oak right outside of Charleston. It is estimated to be around 500 years old and its longest branch is 187 feet long.
The tree is so massive that it is hard to get a good shot of the entire thing. I wish that we had gone at sunrise or sunset because it would look amazing during golden hour, but I am sure the area would be packed with photographers trying to get the perfect shot.
I would love to travel back to the Charleston area with my wife and take a horse drawn carriage ride around the historic sections of the city.
One of the places we visited was a plantation that made bricks that were used all over the city back in the early days.
One of the craziest parts of the brick plantation was that these bricks were handmade, usually by slave children and you could see finger prints in the bricks. Just imagine how hot these were when the little kids where forming them. It is pretty sad to see and to realize that slavery pretty much built this part of the country.
This area is really cool to visit, but I don't think that I could ever live here. It gets way too hot and humid for my liking. But the scenery would be amazing to see on a daily basis. I really do love the way these trees and the moss looks. I bet it gets pretty creepy looking during Halloween. I think that would be a really cool time to visit.
