A virtual walk through a cemetery washed out by the river. Samara region, border with the Ulyanovsk region. The village of Podvalye. Here on the banks of the Volga you can find an old cemetery. Every year, during the spring flood, the water erodes the shore, the soil crumbles, and human remains fall onto the shore. Photos 10 and 13 show parts of the skeleton located in the ground.
All this “splendor” appeared a long time ago. After the construction of a cascade of hydroelectric power stations on the Volga, many villages were completely flooded by new reservoirs. The part was partially flooded, and sometimes it happens that the village churchyard is half flooded.
By the way, large bones and skulls are collected by local residents and reburied in a new cemetery.
