If it's like that, how can the weather ever be "bad" ? I'm joking a bit here, because I've already hiked for days in the rain and frankly, it's not the best experience I can recommend... Even if the leaves did make up my ceiling !
On the other hand, a night under a mosquito net - well installed, it goes without saying - on a warm, early summer's night, it's just absolute bliss. To see what ours was like, I invite you to look at the image just below...
That was our sleeping arrangement for this one night, as we joined a group of friends for a weekend of birthday celebrations. It's clearly not my first night outside, and not the first under this mosquito net either, but what can I say ? The truth is, even though I've been camping with my parents since I was 6 or 7, each new night feels like the first night forever.
This time, we laid our sleeping mats right on the vegetation carpet and without really remembering, I left my bag on top of it. Half an hour later, there were a hundred ants hiding underneath. No, there was nothing to eat, just that of all insects, ants seem to be the most curious, constantly inspecting the surroundings of their shelters.
But this report - because that's what it's all about - begins mainly the next morning, in the light of dawn and a little later, in this undergrowth that's actually quite close to the house.
There's a wide variety of tree species here, but as fate would have it, we're settling in under a hornbeam. Along with the many members of the genus "Tilia", hornbeams (and beeches) are certainly one of my favorite species. Their leaves are small but plentiful and it's always cool in their shade.
I was happy to capture the low-angled light on this one and despite the fact that these images were taken with my phone and not my camera - which once again I didn't have with me ^^ - I'm still happy with the result.
One last hornbeam leaf which, with its elongated shape, reminded me for a while of a chestnut, but with the way it is arranged in space and on the branch with its neighbors, it can only be a hornbeam...
Then it was the turn of the Field Maple, Acer campestre, and its leaves to seduce me. I often say to myself that if there is a form of natural ideal, for me it is represented by trees. What more beautiful invention and experience of Nature could there be ? As you can imagine, when I'll reincarnate, I want to come back as a tree !
We'll finish with these two other species of tree, one a member of the genus "Tilia" and the other a beech with leaves less serrated than those of the common hornbeam.

Dans ce cas-là, comment pourrait-il un jour faire "mauvais" ? Je plaisante un peu ici, car j'ai déjà randonné des jours sous la pluie et franchement, ce n'est pas la meilleure expérience que je puisse vous recommander..! Quand bien même les feuilles composaient-elles mon plafond.
En revanche, une nuit sous une moustiquaire - bien installée, cela va de soit - par une belle nuit chaude de début d'été, c'est juste un bonheur absolu. Pour voir comme était la nôtre, je vous invite à regarder l'image juste en dessous...
Voilà comment se composait notre installation pour dormir cette unique nuit alors que nous avions rejoint une bande d'amis pour un weekend de fête autour d'un anniversaire. Ce n'est clairement pas ma première nuit dehors et pas non plus celle sous cette moustiquaire, mais comment dire..? En vérité, j'ai beau avoir campé avec mes parents depuis l'âge de 6 ou 7 ans, chaque nouvelle nuit et bien, c'est comme si c'était éternellement la première.
Cette fois-ci, nous avons posé nos tapis de sol à même le tapis de végétaux et sans bien m'en rappeler, j'ai laissé mon sac posé dessus. Une demi-heure plus tard, il y avait une centaine de fourmis cachées dessous. Non, il n'y avait rien a manger, juste de tous les insectes, les fourmis semblent les plus curieux, inspectant sans relâche les environs de leurs abris.
Mais ce reportage - car c'est bien de cela qu'il s'agit - commence surtout le lendemain matin, à la lumière de l'aube et un peu après, dans ce sous-bois finalement assez proche de la maison.
On trouve une grande diversité d'espèces d'arbres ici, mais le destin a voulu que ce soit sous un charme que nous nous installions. Avec les nombreux membres du genre Tilia, les charmes (et les hêtres) sont sûrement une de mes espèces favorites. Leurs feuilles sont petites, mais nombreuses et il fait toujours frais à leur ombre.
J'ai été heureux de capter cette lumière rasante, sur celle-ci et malgré que ces images aient été prises avec mon téléphone et non avec mon appareil photo - qu'une fois encore je n'avais pas avec moi ^^ - je suis tout de même content du résultat.
Une dernière feuille de hêtre qui avec sa forme allongée m'a un temps faite penser à celle d'un châtaignier, mais avec cette organisation dans l'espace et sur la branche avec ses voisines, il ne peut que s'agir d'un hêtre...
Ce fut ensuite au tour de l'Érable champêtre Acer campestre et à ses feuilles de me séduire. Je me dis souvent que s'il y a bien une forme d'idéal naturel, pour moi, celle-ci est représenté par les arbres. Quelle plus belle invention et expérience de la Nature pourrait-il exister ? Vous l'aurez compris, à ma réincarnation, c'est en arbre que je veux revenir !
Nous terminerons par ces deux autres espèces d'arbres, respectivement un membre du genre *Tilia" et pour le second, il s'agit justement là d'un hêtre avec des feuilles moins dentelées que celles du charme commun.
