cook the loop #8: still that jazz

today's quest for the daily sample took us again on a jazz ride.
i found the intro to this song, but i was struggling to do something with it.

i started messing with time stretching and eventually i caught this vibe that really felt bouncy when i slowed part of it down to half the speed.
so that turned into the main theme of the song.

i further manipulated the sample a few more times, like pitching it to a higher octave and "downgrading" it to lofi in some parts.

don't have much more to say for this one. it's about seeking the sample, or "digging the (virtual) crate." and flipping the sound; stretching, cutting, reversing, or adding a freak ton of effects.

it's about showing up "to work." and making this out of that.

am starting to appreciate the way i am getting more comfortable in doing the sample manipulation in ableton, but it feels the sound isn't really so much my choice, but instead a sort of tapestry of the patches i happen to have laying around.

again, need to organize.

all good though. it's the exercise that counts. can't emphasise that enough.
