COVER Challenge Week 12!! - Anyone can win 50% of the Post Reward in HP!! Just ask for a song!!

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa!

I am into the 12th week of this challenging series of posts I have set myself for Thursdays! BUT I Need your Help to keep going please!

This is the challenge I'm setting myself every Thursday: I ask for cover song requests on the MUSIC community, and then pick a favourite song to learn and post a live video of me attempting it. The person who asked for the winning song then gets 50% of the post rewards in HP! If I pick a second song, that person gets 20% of the post rewards in HP as well!

This week's winner is @clairemobey who asked me to demonstrate how I would tackle "Working Class Hero".

This is a fantastic song that was written by John Lennon (of the Beatles) after he went solo in 1970. Here is the original:

About 10-15 years ago I remember that Green Day released a very powerful video with their cover of "Working Class Hero" that also showed footage of survivors of the conflicts in Sudan telling their story. I believe this is the version that Claire is familiar with:

Well done @clairemobey - you will receive 50% of this post rewards in HP!

NOW READER, perhaps next week is your turn? Please give me some suggestions of cover songs you would like me to try next week, and maybe you'll be the winner next time!

See you Next Week! Ask for a song if you've read this far!

Speaking of @clairemobey. She is a good friend of mine here in Cape Town, South Africa. She is a fantastic singer and songwriter. She is the person I perform in public with as a collaborative duo called MobeyDick (we sing original songs written by both of us). Unfortunately, Claire doesn't have a decent guitar of her own, and this gets in the way of practising and writing new songs! In better news, we have found a competition that a local music shop is running where a beautiful guitar is the prize. Entrants had to come and sing original songs at the shop, and the video with the most views wins! We're off to a great start but we would love it if you could click on the link below to add your view (you don't need a Facebook account to view it):

Lyrics for "Working Class Hero" by John Lennon / Green Day

As soon as you're born, they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
'Til the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
'Til you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
When they've tortured and scared you for 20 odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function, you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero, well, just follow me
If you want to be a hero, well, just follow me
