My first picture in Cartagena. Alright right now I'm looking at....
I'm sitting at a bus stop with sore feet. Walked over 15k steps and it is just past 3PM.
As for the day? It started off with trying to get a taxi from Murcia to Cartagena. Originally it was just going to be to the bus station but... So much easier to just take the taxi the whole way. It was 70 euro so not cheap but it's vacation and my wife wants to see everything.
We arrived fairly early and our first stop was the coliseum museum which also has the coliseum attached. They asked if we were seeing more and it seems I can get all the tickets at one place. Convenient but also means I had to see everything and commit to my travel plan.
As for the museum?
There were interesting relics and some things to see... Plus there was history to read about. Of course the main attraction is the Colosseum or theater not sure
It really was interesting to see. A 2000 year old stadium designed to hold 7000 people is impressive.
Look carefully and you will see my wife at the very bottom.
Then we walked around for a bit to get to a park and castle.
The Best part about the park were the peacocks. They were kind of cool. Walking through the park you learn that the park is part of the castle grounds.
Keep in walking and we ended up at a cool old castle.
The Best part of the castle we actually the videos about the history of Cartagena and the views of the city
After that we just kept on walking. Found a Mercado with cheap drinks (0.65 euro for a half liter of Gatorade generic)
And we kept on walking through the town although my wife really wanted to stop and shop.
I kept her going until we could find out next stop the ruins of an old Roman outpost and bath house.
However as we went through the town again there was no way to keep my wife from shopping on the way back. Lucky I got to watch a street performer while she was shopping, at least for a bit.
Then we thought about getting burger King got a cold drink but it was super busy so we walked to the bus station going we could figure out how to get a ticket. It took some doing but we eventually figured it out.
And now we wait... But when we get back to Murcia? Another 45 minutes walk to the hotel.
Still 15+K steps is how than enough to warrant a post.
