Am I An App Addict?

My morning started off normal enough. For the next three days I have to walk up to the front of the property and take care of my daughter's chickens and goats and our livestock dog, Annie. Did that. Nice walk. Then I really got going by making the bed and doing a moderately vigorous 7 minute workout of classic exercises such as pushups, jumping jacks, etc. This was while ☕ was brewing. But then I sat down and started playing around with apps — fitness-related apps mostly — but not to actually use the apps. I was changing settings, syncing with other apps, and rearranging my phone screens and icons (AGAIN!). 🤳

I tested a different Sleep app last night so I sat to study its results. Poked around in Google Fit and the VeryFitPro app that goes with my wearable (not a Fitbit but a decent, inexpensive tracker). Needed to update some info. Tried to resolve Google Play Services issues and panicked briefly when my phone restarted twice and thought it was the afternoon of March 16 — coincidentally the same afternoon I installed the Actifit app so at first I feared the two were related. Installed, updated, and removed and rearranged various health and fitness apps.

My fingers were getting a workout but my butt was still firmly seated on the bed. Not good. Fitness apps aren't helpful if you aren't actively using them. Before I realized it, half the morning was gone. And after a burst of activity hauling more materials around, I went idle again playing around with Photo Collada to create the lazy cat graphic.

Those periodic bursts of working outside got me to 10,000+ steps. Imagine how much better it would have been if I hadn't been so app happy. Maybe I need to pay more attention to those digital wellness ("get off the phone") apps — like the one I just installed today. 😲 📵

By the way, both Google Fit and my wearable credited me with a lot more steps; but using Actifit and writing these reports is more motivating than a super high number.
