riverbound: June 6 2024

this is the second day where i did some night walks around our neighborhood. this time, i used a different route. the last machibura was southwards to ueno park (although did not reach the park). this time, i headed eastward to sumida river.

first stop was the tokyo sakura tram intersection. it is one of the last two surviving tram lines in tokyo. i wrote an article about this tram line in a previous entry, hope you can check that out as well.

i was fortunate enough this time to witness two tram cars pass by each other.

i have been this road quite a long time ago and i could remember vividly that there was a restaurant we used to frequent. i know that the restaurant was abolished for quite some time now but i really could not pin point where it used to be on. it was on a two story building with a wide parking area. the building and even the wide parking area is gone. i could only guess that it was probably in one of the many apartment buildings sprawling the area now. how time flies and how fast they could build skyscrapers.

reached the public sports center, i wonder what facilities they have. i know they have a pool, but i don't know how to swim. what else could they have in this big building. i sould preobably pay a visit one of these days.

i finally reached tenno park! this was the planned goal for tonight. google maps said that it was a "park with a waterfall and a playground". so i looked around and saw the playground. the picture turned out well lit but the actual location was so dark. my phone did a very good job of brightening the place.

now where is that waterfall? i looked around but i could not see any water nor anything wet. i found this rocky centerpiece above though, certainly it was bone dry. i rechecked google and found a video of the exact rocky centerpiece with water dripping down like a waterfall; and the whole circular area it was in was all water. google fooled me! i want a refund.

i decided to walk further towards the river to abate my disappointment. good thing i noticed stairs up a wall for this would have been a second disappointment. finally saw the river. it even had a boat docked.

the riverside was wide enough to fit a car. people were also jogging on this path when i arrived. i had fun looking at the calming waters. this trip was not a waste after all. i took several pictures of the area and relaxed a bit before returning back home on a slightly different route. this nightly walking sessions has been so fun so far, i wonder where to go next.

so there i was returned home just to go out again for the gym. i almost forgot that it was leg day. my legs were more than warmed up for the day so i hope everything will work out just fine.

  • pull ups (12 x 10)
  • squats (70kg x 3 x 12)
  • dead lift (40kg x 1 x 12, 45kg x 2 x 12)
  • lunges (25kg x 3 x 12 per leg)
  • bulgarian split squat (25kg x 2 x 12 per leg)
  • leg extensions (52kg x 4 x 10)
  • leg press (145kg x 3 x 12)
  • calf extension (165kg x 3 x 15)
  • a set each of the following with no rest between sets
    --hip abduction (57kg x 3 x 12) <--- finally increased from 52
    --hip adduction (43kg x 3 x 12) <--- finally increased from 38

and yes, i did the hip machine on leg day as previously decided. it was just the perfect day to do it, though it was tougher to perform at the very end.

the day ended very productive. though there was a slight hiccup (in the name of a certain waterfall in the park), i still enjoyed how it all turned out. oh, and my foot blister did not act up at all. i was a bit worried but a thicker socks did the trick.

hope you had fun with me.
