It has been a brand new experience for my family recently as we were first time selling my first car to buy a new family car as the children grow bigger and need more space.
My mum-in-law stays with us sometimes so sometimes when we want to go out together in a car, it has been too tight as the back seat already houses 2 car seats for my growing boys. The space in between can sometimes sit an adult but it is very tight. So instead of a 5 seater car, for the first time we are trying a 7-seater car.
For me to part with my old car, a Perodua Myvi, I took 1 to 2 months to adjust the feelings. After all, this is my first car after I came out to work. It has been with me for 10 years. I remember my joy when I first got it. In this 10 years, it rarely gave me trouble though there was someone who banged into its side mirror and it fell off. Another time was someone tried to steal my tyres so they unscrewed the screws on the tyre.
It has been my faithful little drive with a good power steering and impressive turning radius.
I used to really think that it will stick with me for life as I had no plans and never think of changing to a newer car. Hence I was feeling a bit sad parting with it. It was also my first experience of selling a car and deal with different parties especially the second hand car dealer and also our new car salesperson. It was a long process with hiccups but thank goodness it is all done. Trade in should be a more direct option but I managed to fetch an extra MYR 1k with the second hand car dealer though there were delays and waiting.
As the children grow bigger and increase in size, and we have 3 adults in the car at times, our another family car really is a bit small. With both my husband and I being self-employed, we could hardly think of changing a car, what more a seven-seater car. But God has been faithful and trustworthy. Just a year ago, this thought is merely ridiculous but never have we thought it can be materialised in a year's time as we take this step of faith to go into a new upgrade. Thank goodness this new car, a Perodua Aruz is from the same manufacturer and brand of my old car so it brings back the feeling of driving the old car but a bigger and higher car. As for its performance, we will need to drive for a while to tell.
My eldest son really loves the 3rd row and has since said that his seat will always be at the third row. So with this new ride that we have just collected yesterday, we are giving thanks and praising God!!! Still trusting Him for provision.
There were some free gifts that came along with the new car too.
Let me immortalise my old friend of 10 years in this post! Goodbye old friend and thank you for your good 10 years with me! Seeing another person drove you away did give me mixed feelings.
