Diaries of a Fluffy Rican: Palisade peach festival

One of my biggest surprises after arriving in Colorado, came when I first purchased a peach from the local market. I never expected it, but I'll also never forget it. It was the sweetest, juiciest peach I've ever had. These peaches are so sweet and juicey, you don't eat them. You slurp them down in ecstasy. I haven't tried it, but I'd wager that I could stick a straw into one and drink it like an old school juice box.

Everyone has heard of a Georgia peach, but I'd never heard of a palisade peach until arriving here. Yet it turns out this area is know for they're peaches, and with good reason. I cannot overstate how wonderful these peaches are. I've bought peaches back home in RI, but they might as well be made of plastic in comparison to the peaches grown here in Colorado. They are in a league is their own.

So when I heard that there was going to be a peach festival held this weekend in Palisade. I knew I wasn't going to miss it.

No matter what I had going on, I was going to attend the festival. Though I wish I would've been able to get there earlier. That being said, I am definitely going there tomorrow. I'm blessed that the festival isn't too far from where I'm staying, and driving anywhere in Colorado during this time is full of beautiful views.

The festival was held at Riverbend park, and it welcomed you some eye candy scenery.

The place was bustling with people and venders from all over the region. They even had a live band jamming out in the center of the festival

It's been a while since I've attended any type of festival, and honestly I couldn't have picked a better one to attend.

I was immediately greeted by the local mascot.

I was even given a few options for transportation.

I might consider the horse drawn buggy tomorrow. Today however I was pressed for time, and headed straight for the peaches.

Well.. I was heading straight for the peaches, until I passed a stand with freshly made fried peach pies. They were so good.

I also bought a peach and chocolate fudge bar. It wasn't too bad. I'm not big on fudge.

There was so much to see and do at the festival. They had pulled pork tacos with peach habanero salsa. This will be my first stop, when I visit tomorrow.

There were different venders representing the different vineyards in the region. Also another reason I'm going back.

Overall it was great time. I will definitely be going there tomorrow. I love the attitude of the people that I've met here in Colorado. I've never felt so welcomed and loved. I highly recommend visiting this area and meeting the people. The only thing sweeter then them, are their peaches.

Thanks for sharing with me. God bless. :)
