I love citrus drinks, I feel that they fall lightly on my body, refresh me and make my taste buds happy, a sensation that I try to enjoy often.

Me encantan las bebidas cítricas, siento que caen ligeras en mi cuerpo, me refrescan y hacen felices a mis papilas gustativas, una sensación que procuro disfrutar con frecuencia.

The drink that I share with you today may be irritating for some as it is loaded with the strong acid of tamarind and combined with a citrus fruit as well as the orange, although some oranges are full of sweet tones in their flavor, so with the luck I had in choosing my sweet oranges I set aside one to make this drink whose idea had already been implanted in my mind days ago.

With a delicious result, acidic, refreshing and with sweet nuances I come to share my recipe 😉.

La bebida que les comparto hoy quizás puede resultar irritante para algunos ya que está cargada del acido fuerte del tamarindo y combinada con una fruta cítrica también como lo es la naranja, aunque algunas naranjas están repletas de tonos dulces en su sabor, así que con la suerte que tuve en la elección de mis naranjas dulces aparté una para elaborar esta bebida cuya idea ya se había implantado en mi mente días atrás.

Con un delicioso resultado, ácido, refrescante y con matices dulces vengo a compartir mi receta 😉

Ingredients for a large glass:

1 Piece of tamarind (in the absence of a kitchen scale to weigh, you can get an idea in the photo where I hold the piece in my hand).
1/4 cup of panela or piloncillo cut in small pieces.
1 sweet and juicy orange.
Cup and a half of water.

Ingredientes para un vaso grande:

1 Trozo de tamarino (a falta de una báscula de cocina para pesar, puedes darte una idea en la foto en donde sostengo el trozo en mi mano).

1/4 de taza de panela o piloncillo cortado en trocitos.

1 naranja dulce y jugosa.

Taza y media de agua.

Preparation // Preparación:

I began to prepare this drink at night and let the tamarind soften in the water until the next day, so I soaked it with the water and the piloncillo.

I kept it in the refrigerator so that it would be very cold at the time of preparation, just the way I like it.

Esta bebida comencé a prepararla en la noche y dejé al tamarindo ablandarse en el agua hasta el día siguiente, por lo cual lo coloqué en remojo con el agua y el piloncillo.

Lo guardé en la nevera para que al momento de la preparación estuviese muy frío, tal como me gusta.

After the indicated time, I helped myself with a spoon to extract more substance from the tamarind. Since I used a container with a lid, I stirred several times to help the process.

Pasado el tiempo indicado, me ayudé con una cuchara extraer mayor sustancia al tamarindo. Como usé un envase con tapa agité varias veces para ayudar al proceso.

I strained and pressed with a spoon to continue extracting substance from the tamarind and after the first strain I repeated the process of shaking everything in the container and straining again.

Colé e hice presión con una cuchara para continuar extrayendo sustancia al tamarindo y luego de la primera colada repetí el proceso de agitar todo en el envase y volver a colar.

With the piloncillo and tamarind mixture ready, it was time to squeeze the orange to add it. I extracted as much juice and pulp as possible, without the seeds, and blended everything together.

Ya con la mezcla de piloncillo y tamarindo lista, llegó el momento de exprimir la naranja para agregarla. Extraje la mayor cantidad de jugo y pulpa posible, sin las semillas y mezclé todo.
