Trying an energy drink...

I've seen and tasted different energy drinks and I've mostly observed that they all are almost giving the same taste. Recently my mom bought a new one I hadn't seen before and what caught my attention was the color and packaging, the name of the drink was also very new to me.

The name of the energy drink is SURGE. The can has a bold black color, golden designs on top, silver lettering, and a power logo that indicates that it's a strong energy drink and I like how the colors on the logo are portrayed. The drink contains 33CL in the can, like most energy drinks in Nigeria.
And below the front of the can it is said to contain Ginseng, Guarana and taurine, the three popular ingredients often found in energy drinks, supplements and other products , I'll talk about those three soon...

Let's talk about the packaging...
Though I think the packaging of this drink is a little old fashioned, I just like the color combinations how attractive it is to the eyes. O think it should be the new fine can that is now being used for most can drinks which looks more tiny and portable. However the sealing is good, and very easy to open...no stress!

It actually takes less than a second to open it. And once pressure was previously applied it's just going to let out the foam all over the can. The drink is very active!

Flavor

The Surge energy drink has almost the same taste with others I've tried, but I think this gives a stronger and sweeter taste. The first sip gave me a citrus fruit taste, very sweet and the caffeine feeling was there.

It has a unique citrus flavor that sets it apart from the typical energy drinks. The initial taste is a burst of tangy goodness, reminiscent of citrus sodas but with extra kick. I know some might find it intense but I appreciate that is not overly sweet or medicinal taste like a few other energy drinks. The flavor profile is appealing.

Ingredients and Nutritional Information:

Initially I mentioned that the 3 ingredients written in the front can were ginseng, guarana and taurine.

Guarana, ginseng, and taurine are three natural and super interesting ingredients.

  1. Guarana:
Guarana is a plant originating from the Amazon rainforest, it's said that it's seeds contain a higher concentration of caffeine than coffee beans. Guarana is known for it's ability to boost energy, surpressant of appetite and enhance mental clarity.

  2. Ginseng:
Ginseng is a herb with various species, commonly used in traditional medicine for centuries. It helps the body to adapt to stress, improve energy and also enhance mental clarity.

  3. Taurine:
Taurine is an Amino acid with antioxidant properties. It helps with athletic performance and also enhances heart health.

When combined, these three can provide synergistic effects. It will enhance energy, help with mental clarity and physical performance. But it is essential to consume everything in moderation, being mindful of the side effects and also consulting a healthcare professional of you have a pre-existing medical conditions before consuming this.

Other list of ingredients continued in this drink is found at the back of the can.

Surge gives me a strong and steady energy boost without the jitters. The mix of caffeine, taurine, and B-vitamins provides a smooth and focused energy that lasts for hours, making it perfect for busy days or tough workouts.

It is not too costly as the drink is sold for N600 ($0.38) at the supermarket. For it's quality, the price is good. I've only seen this drink recently in Abia State so I'm not sure how available it is in other States of Nigeria.

As instructed on the can, this drink is not for pregnant women, lactating mothers or people who are caffeine sensitive. Also not to be taken more than 1.5 can in a day.
