Newbies Initiative Task || Recount of goals made and plans for 2022
Three months ago I made the decision to apply for the newbies initiative, and quite frankly it's been one of the best, if not the best decision I've made during my hive journey so far. My application post wasn't the greatest, but I guess it showed how much help I needed assistance because I was one of the lucky people who were selected.
We all joined the smile discord server where we held meetings and learned extensively about the inner workings of the hive blockchain. I got to meet and make new friends like @iskafan
@khaleesii
@jaydr
@deraaa
@davidbright and a lot more, I learned to use markdown, I learned the importance of commenting, I learnt about S.B.I shares, in general I was able to understand a lot of things about the blockchain.
The newbies initiative was not only a place of learning for me, they became like a family. Each time I come online I make sure I stop by a fellow newbie's post and engage with them or drop some words of encouragement. And in return they'd do the same for me.
Alongside our meetings we participated in various tasks to make sure we understood what we learned. Today, I'm performing my final task as a newbie.
It's been said that all good things must come to an end but I wish this could last forever. I can only wish that the friendships I've made won't end alongside the program.
A look my goals for the program
At the start of the program, our first task was to list the things we wanted to achieve at the end. And I wrote this.
Now that I look back on them I realize that I had very high expectations then — I still do now.
The first goal I set was to have 750 hive power by the end of the program. I currently have 304.169 hive power, but bearing in mind that I had 70 something hive power at that time, I'm really happy.
The second goal I set was to reach a reputation of 65. This was something I felt was really achievable at the time, but I guess I didn't put in enough effort to achieve this. I'm currently closing in on this though, my current reputation is 60.91 a few more posts and I should get there. When I joined my reputation was at 55 so I can clearly see that there's a massive improvement.
The last goal that I set was to improve my engagement on the blockchain, which I did, but I also said that I wanted to increase my followers to 200, which I did not. I currently have 113 followers and the majority of them are people I've spoken to, so I'm very happy about that. I'm unable to remember how much they were at the time, but I don't think they were up to 50.
At first when I realized I hadn't achieved any of the goals I'd set I was a bit disappointed, but when I looked back at where I was then and where I am now, I became very grateful.
My goals for this year
Now it's the end of the year, the newbies initiative is coming to an end. I've talked about my hive goals for the new year here, but I might as well list them again.
I plan on having at least 1,200 hive power, getting a reputation of at least 70, to get into blockchain gaming — already achieved this, to be more consistent in my posting and commenting, and to get back to writing fiction weekly.
As usual some of them are challenging, but I believe I can achieve them all before the end of the year.
Conclusion
I've tried to think of any shortcomings the newbies initiative may have, but I've been unable to come up with anything. I'd forever be grateful to @starstrings01,
@eddiespino,
@projectmamabg,
@aliento and all others who one way or the other have supported me through the newbies initiative. And also my fellow newbies, you guys have pushed me to improve in all aspects these last three months, I'm looking forward to continue to interact with you guys even after all of this. See you at the top.
