"HivePH: My Caroling Experiences"

Hello my wonderful Hive mates! We are now on the third week of the blogging contest hosted by this community. And for sure all participants are having an all out fun joining it. Last week, I decided not to join because I can't remember a specific Christmas movie due to lots of movies I have watched before. It will only give me a hard time to think, especially that I mostly forgot the name or the title of those movies. So by that, I just let the week passed without an entry for the blog topic given. But here today, I'll be trying out my best to share with you all about my "Caroling Experiences."

Caroling... One of the best things when Christmas season came. As what I have remembered, when the calendar started to fall on "ber" or "ember" months, together with the other youth members, we were also started to get busy for the preparations in relation to this activity. As a youth member in our Church, we are encouraged to join the Caroling. It was all lead by our Youth President at that time. Other than that, we also have another Caroling group lead by our Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson.

Our Youth President called up for a practice session. It falls on the weekend but not every weekend because there were times that there is an important matter to attend to. Most common songs that we sang at that time were,"Jingle Bells," "Ang Pasko ay sumapit," We wish you a Merry Christmas," and "Pasko na naman." In addition to that, with the help of YouTube, we managed to learn new Christmas songs, mostly jolly ones to give a jolly vibe for the "tagbalay nga giawitan" or the house where we chose to have the caroling. We were also waiting for the new Christmas station IDs from the two well-known TV station here in the country.

Aside from preparing the songs, of course, instruments to be use were also been prepared. The most common instrument that we used for our Caroling looks like this.

It is an instrument made out from a "Tansan" or a cap of a bottled drinks." For those who didn't bring one during the Caroling, they were the ones who will do the clapping of hands and tapping of foot.

-On the Caroling Night-

Around 7 or 8 in the evening, we were all gathered in the house of our Youth Leader. "Planado na lahat, especially yung mga bahay na pangangarolingan namin." Mostly we chose those houses that we knew rich so that they we can get huge amount too. "Mindset ba, mindset." Lol. XD. And they didn't failed us. The amount we received ranges from PHp 10 to PHp 100. Mostly, every after the Caroling, we managed to accumulate a range of PHp 500 to PHp 1000 for a night. We used the money being accumulated for our Christmas Party.

-Most Unforgettable Experience-

This happens one night of our "pangangaroling" at one of the Sitios of our Barangay. We all knew that one specific house that we planned out "na pangangarolingan" they have a dog outside their house. But still we proceeded to that house. I think the dog detected right away, when we were about to start singing, the dog approaches us angrily. One of our companions got stunned and ran off, so as us. And with that, we ended up running and chased by the dog. Gladly, some of the boys youth members managed to drive away the dog by throwing out some stones. Because of that incident, my parents didn't allowed me to join the Carolings anymore, so as with the others. Eventually, the group didn't do Caroling again and "dun nagsimulang nagkanya-kanya ang lahat."

When I entered to College, I didn't do Caroling. Instead, the younger ones did it in our house. We always ran out of coins because the Carolers will not escape our house everytime they will do the said Caroling. While watching them singing, it gives me a heart warming feeling. It all "brings back memories." (Deep Sighing)

What I like about doing this thing is the happiness and joys it brings to me and the fruits of our preparations. "Sobrang saya pagdating nung Christmas Party, wherein there were lots of foods being partaken by the group and Christmas games after with small amount of prices, nakakamiss lahat nang yon."

The last time I witnessed some Carolers singing in our "kabahayan" was before pandemic. In addition to that, we were hit by super typhoon Odette a year ago. So it left the Carolers with no other choice than to not do it.

As of now, there's still no Carolers in our barrio. One of the reasons is that mostly houses have their own pet dog and that includes us. They might get scared if they try doing it in our home because my dog will surely barks at them if they do so, especially that my dog is not fond of hearing any kind of noise. As a matter of fact, when we do karaoke in our house, my buddy will not stop howling or barking which will leave you ended up singing. (≧▽≦)

That would be for this blog. Thanks a lot for spending your time.

TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!
