Hello, once again readers I am back again with another blog, first of all, I hope you are all okay, I thomasino hope that you will enjoy another one of my blogs and I hope you will read it and like it.
Today I would like to express my experience during my immersion, but first of all, why do we have to do this? Well as we are going to be graduates when we exit senior high school we will undergo the subject immersion in which we have to be immersed in our wanted career paths which may help us decide what’s best for us. As for me and my fellow classmates, I chose engineering in which we are assigned to the DPWH engineering district nearest to our school which is also a government department.
To the company where I underwent my immersion is located in Medellin Cebu which is in the Northern part of the province, therefore it is much further than the usual distance that I go. So that I won't be late my father drives me so I can arrive on time, another factor that also affects my schedule is that I will prepare myself more early than my usual schedule for the same reason that it is further. However, this may seem hard at first but once you adapt it's easy.
My industry is located at a beautiful place in which they also have a big building for their office where they plan all of their projects that are going to be made within their district. Furthermore, another reason that I liked it there is the fact that their offices are airconditioned which makes it cold considering that it's really sunny outside. Within their area, there is a canteen, chapel, and a basketball court for the employees to play when they have their free time. As for my experience, I will share it with all of you.
With our chosen career it's obvious that we are taught what they do as engineers, and it's not what I expected it to be as there is more process when planning on building infrastructures as it goes to many approvals from different people and takes countless hours to plan and design it. Other than this they also taught us about different techniques when drafting and sharing their knowledge with us as we are all in a shared office and can communicate with each other.
During lunchtime, we will go to the canteen and eat together with my fellow classmates as we will share talks and tell our experiences about this new field and also if we have time we will also go to their basketball court which is just near the canteen. Another thing is that they also sent us to one of their fields where they are constructing one of their projects so we can observe them and how it is built, not just on visualization but in reality. Afterward, we went Back to the office and continued with the work that the engineers had given us.
In the afternoon when it's time to leave we will tour the place so that we will be more familiar with the workplace. After taking our time to tour we will then go home as we still have about a kilometer to walk. During this time we share talks and jokes to pass the time and it’s a really fun memory that I can't forget. Since all of us go in the same direction we will all wait for the bus at the same time. Other times we will go to the nearby town to play at their plaza and also watch their carnival since it was almost their annual fiesta.
Overall I realized that during my immersion it is not only about working but also about how you can adapt to the new environment that you are put in under any circumstances. The most important thing about this is to enjoy even though it is hard but no worries an award awaits at the end of the day. For me, this has been a very great and memorable experience that I may not forget as such it was my first and last time together with that team.
