Wedding Anniversary Special: BUDA Road Trip!

My husband and I reached our 9th wedding anniversary and there's no better way to celebrate it than to go travel as how we usually do. Last year, I booked a seat sale for me, my husband, and our little one in Davao. It was a great deal at PHP 4k for the three of us round trip.

The flight got canceled a few times and so I was given the freedom to either rebook or refund. A lot of things happened during those months, from April 2023 to February 2024 and I decided to wait a week ago before I finally decided to rebook it at a certain date. Thankfully, Cebu Pacific allowed my rerouting option instead of traveling from Panglao, I rerouted it to Cebu to Davao and then Davao to Tagbilaran for our flight back to Bohol. Because of that, this trip also allowed us to visit our property in Cebu City and then my husband also got his Macbook which was sent for repair in December last year.

On the 22nd, we traveled very early at three in the morning to Mactan Airport. Matti's quite excited and we were grateful we had this opportunity to travel again with our little one. Our flight was at 5:05 AM, the plane was small but it was okay as we watched the sunrise together above the clouds. It was very special.

I was amazed that Matti wasn't scared at all when the plane took off and even during the landing part. I am so proud that he would just ask for water whenever he felt his ear popping because of the pressure!

We planned to go to Bukidnon-Davao road, which is two hours away from the city, I booked a night stay at Misty Heights and for us to get there easily, I arranged a car rental with MIB Rent A Car and they delivered the car to the airport at exactly 7 AM.

Our breakfast was at Jollibee somewhere, then headed to SM City Davao as my husband wanted to buy a new camera toy but unfortunately, there was no available stock for that unit so we ended up buying an Insta360 X3 camera instead. It was fun to use but I felt like the files were too huge that our 128GB MicroSD card got full in just two days!

Anyway, we headed to Marilog District, it was rainy and my husband just wanted to drive fast but Davao City has a speed limit of 60 KPH, so we have to follow the rules! We reached Marilog District at 1 PM, and we ate lunch at Highway 81, this was the place where we stayed on our anniversary travel too year 2019, it brought so many memories and we were both happy that we were able to visit now with Matti.

After lunch, we headed to the resort. It was super misty! I love the weather but I was hoping it won't rain anymore so we could see the view of the mountains, we even had requested a bonfire set up but it rained the whole afternoon!

Anyway, we just stayed in our glamping dome the entire afternoon. By around five, our dinner was served! I guess I will talk about the place in a separate blog. But for now, I'd like to give you a summary of how this trip went. It was still rainy the entire evening, so we just decided to unbox our new camera, I posted it here:

And so we just chilled the entire night, we played a few games and then slept very early to the sound of the rain and the animals around.

By the early morning, we woke up to the hope that there was a sunrise. Indeed, the sun showed up and we were extremely happy. We had breakfast outdoors next to the pool with a view of the sea of clouds. We flew the drone, we swam in the pool which was surprisingly bearable even if the weather was super cold, my little one didn't want to stop playing in the waters!

Checkout time was around 11 AM and we went straight to Kavanah Resort for lunch as we were meeting up with a church friend. This was another start of an adventure.

Our meetup was fun, Aprilyn is a friend who transferred to Davao for university, she is taking Criminology and so we were busy catching up in the restaurant. It was raining so we didn't mind as we couldn't go outside yet. I was a little sad we couldn't fly the drone here though because of the rain so I decided to just use the Insta360 instead as it's waterproof.

After lunch, we started our adventure going to Impasug-ong in Bukidnon, it's around two hours drive. We reached in the evening after a few stops for stretching and food. Then we checked in at Roy's Tulogan, and slept early that night so we could get up early the next day.

Thankfully, Roy's Tulogan offers early breakfast, so we were off the road before seven in the morning. It could have been better if we were able to get out earlier than that so we could witness the sunrise with the lights on the mountain ridges, but it's okay. We reached the Communal Ranch and took a lot of photos and videos, I am quite excited to share with you how our adventure here went, but for now, here's a preview:

From there, we headed to Manolo Fortich for the Alpine Village just next to Dahilayan Park. We had lunch and we accompanied Matti to two quick rides in the park, more of this on the next coming blogs.

From there, we headed back to Davao City, my husband was super tired from driving but we eventually arrived at Kaizen for dinner at around seven in the evening.

Stop over at this place called Bitukang Manok.

It took us another two hours to reach Davao City. We checked in at Amani Grand Resort Residences just five minutes away from the airport and just next to the Gaisano Grand Mall. It was a nice condo unit and I am glad I booked that Airbnb.

The next day was a Sunday and it was our last day in Davao. We just stayed in our Airbnb and watched online service. Then we checked out at noon, had lunch at the mall, and then went early to the airport. While we arrived in Panglao earlier than our scheduled arrival, the bus left the airport only at six in the evening.

That ended our Wedding Anniversary Travel Special. Stay tuned for the detailed blogs soon!
