Beach beer

When you think about beach, you (well at least I do) immediately think about watching sunsets in the sand with a beer in the hand. Back while living on the island, we always used to bring coolers and bags of ice to the beach for our cold drinks. With just a weekender of being on the move, we decided to try out all beachy specialties to support and explore.

Meet the Badgast

Meet the badgast actually means 'meet the swimming guest' and this totally feels like a beach approved beer on a warm day like this weekend was. With a bit of wind on the first day and total lack of wind, this had all the aspects which you normally get when going to the Dutch beaches. This is what I always remembered from when I was playing beahc volleybal seasons back in the days. That is was always windy except for that day when you sweat your balls off.

And that is what sort of happened and why we 'deserved' (heck you always deserve a beer for no good reason) a nice Kompaan 'Meet the badgast' beer. Kompaan really has been working the series over the last couple of years and honestly, I would take any beer from the series without blinking an eye. Cool to have a good player in the country!

Dutchbargain

Another player which had multiple beers on the menu were the guys from Dutchbargain who actually have their brewery in Zeeland and the specifically in Zeeuw-Vlaanderen which is the part connect to the Belgian border. So if you are there and want a local beer, the Dutch Bargain should actually be the go-to beer. Also when you look on their website they really are making nice series with nice seasonal beers, but most of all good artwork on the labels.

Aren't we all a sucker for good artwork on beerlabels? I am certainly the one who gets suckered into this when hunting for a good IPA.

We also tried a lot of the 'Texel' beers (Texel is an island of Holland so it felt legit to also see these are beach beers as well) and especially the 'Skuumkop' is one that is sold everywhere. For a reason as well, because that one slides in perfectly.

But...(there always is a but).... The layout of Texel beer just absolutely doesn't do the beer justice. Because these are actually really good and fun beers, but the labels are really boring and look old. Visuals are everything these days right?

The point is...beers on the beach are just nice and refreshing, which is all you need in these hot days. Take it cool and easy guys with this heat guys!
