Hey que tal amigos?, antier comente que iríamos a la frontera a buscar a mi hermano que regresa de viaje de Colombia, y la verdad es que el viaje es sumamente largo y cansado, pero lo mas complicado es no conocer la carretera, en lugares hay huecos del tamaño de un cráter literalmente y en otros lugares hay baches en la vía que no se ven por que no están señalizados y frenábamos a cada 5min, al igual que reductores de velocidad muy mal ubicados.
Hey what's up friends, the day before yesterday I commented that we were going to the border to pick up my brother who is returning from Colombia, and the truth is that the trip is extremely long and tiring, but the most complicated thing is not knowing the road, in places there are holes the size of a crater literally and in other places there are potholes in the road that are not seen because they are not signaled and we braked every 5min, as well as speed bumps very poorly located.
Nos fuimos a las 12:05am, justo después de salir de mi trabajo y se supone que nos íbamos a rotar para manejar mitad y mitad del camino, pues la verdad para una sola persona es muy cansado.
We left at 12:05am, just after leaving my work and we were supposed to rotate to drive half and half of the way, because the truth for one person is very tiring.
Por acá saliendo de mi ciudad se puede observar el nivel de marketing mas creativo hasta ahora, un vehículo anclado a la torre Bell y con forma de carretera.
This way out of my city you can see the most creative level of marketing so far, a vehicle anchored to the Bell Tower and shaped like a highway.
Bueno ya desde acá comenzó la travesía, aproximadamente 590km de distancia y entre 9-10h a una velocidad moderada, y además como no sabíamos que tal estaba el tema de la gasolina en el resto de los estados decidimos llevar unos bidones para llegar mas seguros.
Es la primera vez que transitamos por las autopistas tan solas, literalmente solo veíamos algunos buses de pasajeros y otros camiones que transportan mercancía, pero muy pocos vehículos particulares, además que por su puesto el tema de la policía y ejército acá es complejo, ya que cada 10km (puede que no exagere, encontramos un punto de control) cosa que veo innecesaria, pero lo bueno es que al ir en vehículo particular no nos detuvieron en ningún lugar.
Well, from here began the journey, approximately 590km of distance and between 9-10h at a moderate speed, and also as we did not know how was the issue of gasoline in the rest of the states we decided to take some jerry cans to arrive safer.
It is the first time that we traveled through the highways so alone, literally only saw some passenger buses and other trucks carrying goods, but very few private vehicles, plus of course the issue of police and army here is complex, since every 10km (maybe not exaggerating, we found a checkpoint) which I see unnecessary, but the good thing is that going in a private vehicle we were not stopped anywhere.
Por allí unos 4 peajes después ya estábamos por fin cerca de la frontera, eran pasadas las 6am y no nos detuvimos hasta llegar a San Antonio.
About 4 tolls later we were finally close to the border, it was after 6am and we did not stop until we reached San Antonio.
Desde acá no hubo parada hasta llegar a San Antonio, con un poco de sueño y hambre pero disfrutando el paisaje, que la verdad estaba increíble, ese cambio de contraste entre llanura y montaña fue muy bonito, ya cambiaba la temperatura, se sentía un poco mas frio y además en un tramo de la carretera todo se tapo de neblina. Igual subiendo podiamos ver las montañas del pueblo de Capacho, y acá se comienza a bajar nuevamente hasta la frontera.
From here there was no stop until we reached San Antonio, with a little sleepy and hungry but enjoying the scenery, which the truth was incredible, that change of contrast between plain and mountain was very nice, and the temperature was changing, it felt a little colder and also in a stretch of the road everything was covered with fog. Still going up we could see the mountains of the town of Capacho, and here we started to go down again to the border.
Luego de tener un hotel gracias al google maps, descansamos 1h para cruzar a la parte de Colombia, el vuelo de mi hermano llegaba a las 2:10h nosotros todavía teníamos 3h para cambiar algunos COP y para comprar o caminar por las tiendas, mi mama entro a varios super mercados para ver los precios y tener una idea de cuanto dinero iba a gastar.
Recorrimos gran parte de los super mercados de la frontera, pero ya desde acá nos fuimos directamente al aeropuerto, como yo ya había estado acá 2 veces básicamente fui el guía de todo el camino.
After having a hotel thanks to google maps, we rested 1h to cross to Colombia, my brother's flight arrived at 2:10h we still had 3h to change some COP and to buy or walk around the stores, my mom went to several super markets to see the prices and have an idea of how much money she was going to spend.
We went through most of the super markets on the border, but from here we went directly to the airport, as I had already been here 2 times I was basically the guide all the way.
Finalmente luego de una larga espera de 1h, el vuelo de mi hermano llego y mi papas lo recibieron como nunca, con ansias de verlo nuevamente después de su ultima visita, y que esta vez será por mucho mas tiempo.
Finally after a long wait of 1h, my brother's flight arrived and my parents received him like never before, anxious to see him again after his last visit, and this time it will be for much longer.
La verdad es que fue un viaje largo pero muy largo, y creo que vale la pena el recibir a alguien que llega de viaje de esta forma, te da una sensación de satisfacción poder ver cuando se baja tu familiar y abrazarlo apenas lo vez.
The truth is that it was a long but very long trip, and I think it is worth it to receive someone who arrives from a trip in this way, it gives you a sense of satisfaction to be able to see when your family member gets off and hug him as soon as you see him.
