"Tren de Sardinas"
Este fin de semana fuimos a comprar pescado aquí en una zona donde vivo en la Isla de Margarita - Venezuela, en una playa llamada "Care Care", así que aproveché de tomar estas fotografías y contarles algo al respecto...
Eso que ven en la fotografía en la profundidad de la playa, con varios botes al rededor y los pajaritos haciendo una especie de figura cuadrada en el agua, es lo que llaman aquí un "Tren de Sardinas".
Básicamente ese tren, es una red que es sostenida por esos 4 barcos y es colocada para atrapar peces, la red queda debajo del agua a una profundidad relativa y la idea es que los peces naden por ahí y luego se levante la red para que queden atrapados ahí.
No sé mucho de pescadería, pero tengo entendido que el trabajo del pescador es pesado porque deben poner esa red con los botes desde la madrugada, ellos se encargan de ubicarla nadando en la profundidad y la dejan ahí el tiempo que sea necesario dependiendo de las toneladas o demanda que tengan en compras, pero usualmente están todo el día bajo el sol y el calor descargando esas mallas con muchos peces dentro.
Las sardinas son peces pequeños y al cocinarse tienen un sabor y olor fuerte, no a todas las personas les gusta por eso, son peces de aguas profunda y salen a la superficie en ciertas temporadas, por ejemplo en mi isla este año empezaron a salir desde mediados de marzo y se mantienen, dependiendo de las circunstancias climáticas, hasta finales de año.
Según me comentaba un pescador, los cambios climáticos que hemos tenido en los últimos años han hecho que cada vez sea menor la cantidad de sardinas que suben a la superficie, lo cual es muy preocupante porque, al ser un pescado económico, es la principal fuente de alimentación de las personas de bajos recursos y de ellos también.
Las sardinas también las usan como carnadas para atrapar peces más grandes cuando los pescadores se adentran en las profundidades para cazarlos con arpones, anzuelos u otras mallas diferentes que también usan, por lo que realmente tener sardinas es siempre importante para ellos y para la población de la isla.
Por cierto, los pájaros que están arriba de las mallas están esperando que las sardinas salten para ellos atraparlos y por eso se colocan ahí esperando pacientemente, me pareció bien cómico como quieren aprovecharse del trabajo del pescador jeje, diría mi sobrinito "¡Quien las ve!"
El hecho es que les traje estas fotografías para contarles todo esto y para mostrarles la playa que se veía tan bonita, esperamos que este año la temporada de sardinas se mantengan hasta diciembre, a mí me encantan comerlas porque es un pescado alto en nutrientes, sobre todo en proteínas y omega 3, que es un excelente protector cardiovascular igualable con el del salmón, que es mucho más costoso, por cierto.

"Sardine Train".
This weekend we went to buy fish here in an area where I live in La Isla de Margarita - Venezuela, in a beach called "Care Care", so I took the opportunity to take these pictures and tell you something about it...
What you see in the picture at the depth of the beach, with several boats around and the little birds making a kind of square figure in the water, is what they call here a "Sardine Train".
Basically that train is a net that is held by those 4 boats and is placed to catch fish, the net is under the water at a relative depth and the idea is that the fish swim around and then the net is lifted so that they are trapped there.
I don't know much about fishing, but I understand that the fisherman's work is heavy because they have to put that net with the boats since early morning, they are in charge of placing it swimming in the depth and leave it there as long as necessary depending on the tons or demand they have in purchases, but usually they are all day under the sun and heat unloading those nets with many fish inside.
Sardines are small fish and when cooked they have a strong taste and smell, not all people like them because of that, they are deep water fish and they come to the surface in certain seasons, for example in my island this year they started to come out since mid-March and they stay, depending on the weather circumstances, until the end of the year.
According to what a fisherman told me, the climatic changes we have had in the last few years have caused less and less sardines to come to the surface, which is very worrying because, being an economic fish, it is the main source of food for low-income people and for them as well.
The sardines also use them as bait to catch bigger fish when the fishermen go into the depths to hunt them with harpoons, hooks or other different meshes that they also use, so really having sardines is always important for them and for the population of the island.
By the way, the birds that are on top of the nets are waiting for the sardines to jump for them to catch them and that's why they stand there waiting patiently, I found it quite comical how they want to take advantage of the fisherman's work hehe, my little nephew would say "Who sees them!"
The fact is that I brought you these pictures to tell you all this and to show you the beach that looked so beautiful, we hope that this year the sardine season will continue until December, I love to eat them because it is a fish high in nutrients, especially in protein and omega 3, which is an excellent cardiovascular protector equal to that of salmon, which is much more expensive, by the way.
