Hello Hivers, I trust you are doing well. I came across this contest on indiaunited@indiaunited to evaluate the value of 1000 usd to me

what is the value of $1000 USD for you?

What exactly is the value of $1000 to Nigerian currency?
First of, $1 is equivalent to #415. Thus, $1000USD is equivalent to #415,130 in Nigeria value and this is according to recent currency rate.

The value of a thousand dollars is actually huge in my country owing to the fact that there is drop in the value of naira as against the dollar. So, if I am to earn $1000 as a monthly salary, which I don't at present. It would settle a lot of bills from health insurance, car insurance, foodstuffs, transportation, feeding, miscellaneous and so many more, whether I am married or not.

Another case where $1000 is valued will be in the case of starting a starting up a business. I mean with 300k out of it, I can startup something profitable, that will cater for my expenses and even get gain from its profit.

Another reason why the $1000 will be sufficient for me is the fact that I tend to buy stuffs long term, in bulk especially foodstuffs. So when I spend a reasonable amount of money on foodstuffs, it could taken another 3 to 4 months before I restock. Then in that space, I get to settle other viable things that needs attention.

Owing to the current economic situation of things in my country, the value of $1000 is valuable especially for a monthly salary.
With these I can max out a monthly budget to cover:

  • gas
  • rent
  • transport
  • feeding
  • tax
  • cooperative contributions

And many more.

But now to the sad part
It is so unfortunate that while we anticipate to earn such money in a month, some people cannot even boast of earning such amount in a year. Entry level worker in government agencies gets paid the average minimum wage of $72,which is #30000. In a year that means they get #360, 000($867). Thus over 60% of Nigerian worker get underpaid for the great value of work they do.
