StreetArt from home #8: Astrant: Training Grounds 1

Location

What if you're an up and coming artist, illustrator or painter and you want to give graffiti a try? What you could do, is just go for it and tag something on your neighbors walls.

Doesn't sound like a great a idea, but you have that itch, you want to paint something in the outdoors to see if the cans and vibe are your thing. To see how it feels, how you compare to others and make a name for yourself, oh, and without the illegal part of painting on building walls.

For this purpose cultural center Astrant (see my post here) asked the city of Ede for a place where new artists could practice, have fun, and learn. And known names could show of their skill. And Ede delivered.

This "Training ground" spot is located just outside of Ede on the Langekampweg beneath the highway A30, and only accessible by bike or foot.

Here everyone can have a go at graffiti, so almost every week you'll find new pieces. One better than the other. And once every month, Astrant will host a training / gathering and everything will be redone in a particular style, subject or color.

This will be the first post of many, because there are to many pieces to show in one go. So lady's and gentleman, here we go!

Artwork

When you are approaching the location, you will find these spray cans painted on the ground, and you are near.

Across the training wall, are 4 pillars which are meant for the more known artists, and this piece is made by W1.
