In this post I will write about a magical place, which charm and mystery were added by fog and rainy weather. This place is located by the lake Lough Gur in Ireland.
The lake forms a horseshoe shape at the base of Knockadoon Hill and some rugged elevated countryside. It is one of Ireland's most important archaeological sites. Humans have lived near Lough Gur since about 3000 BC and there are numerous megalithic remains there.
Grange stone circle (the largest stone circle in Ireland) and a dolmen are located near the lake.The remains of at least three crannogs are present, and remains of Stone Age houses have been unearthed (the house outlines are known as "The Spectacles"). A number of ring forts are found in the area, with one hill fort overlooking the lake. Some are Irish national monuments.

I visited this place when there was frost and frozen pieces of ice formed on the surface of the lake. After placing such a piece of ice on the palm of the hand, together with an ingrown piece of grass, a natural art piece was created for a moment.
Irish wild nature was amazing. I really liked the tree that was covered with ivy. Or maybe four separate trees growing close together, but this close, that they look as if they formed a unity.
By the lake there is an interesting path that goes up - to the top of the hill. When you reach the top, you can see the lake from above. The trail is full of interesting surprises. Among others Lough Gur Fairy Village, consisting of many colorful stone fairy houses (I will write a separate post about it and put pictures).
Along the way, you can find interesting-looking, spotted trees. I liked them a lot. They are just birches, but a little different from the ones I know from my country.

I also liked this tree, tied with thin branches. It looked spectacular.
