What Are Gladiator Cards and How to Buy GLADIUS Cases?

Gladiator Cards

A few months ago, Gladiator Cards were added to Splinterlands. They can be easily identified by this grey-ish border that looks like stone:

These cards are very special, and lots of specific rules are applied to them:

  • They can't be traded, delegated or rented;

  • Only 1 Gladiator Card can be used per match. Even if you have several Gladiator Cards, you can only chose one to be played on a match;

  • They can only be played on Guild Brawls, and can't be used on regular games (Ranked, Tournaments, etc.);

  • They're way more powerful than "normal cards", and that's why only 1 can be played per match!

  • They have an specific ability that no other card have: Bloodlust! Every time a Gladiator defeats an opponent, he becomes stronger, getting +1 to all his stats.

The Gladiator Cards also have a few similarities with normal cards: they cont towards your Collection Power and towards the SPS Airdrop Points, and they can be burned into DEC.

You can see all Gladiator Cards on the "Cards" tab, by filtering the "Gladius" Edition:

GLADIUS Cases

You can purchase GLADIUS Cases by clicking on the "Guild", under the "Shop" Tab:

But you can only buy these Cases if you're a member of a Guild that has a Store Level 2 or higher!

Also, the GLADIUS Cases can only be bought with Merit. You can't buy them with DEC or Credits! You can earn Merits by participating in Guild Brawls.

Each GLADIUS Case cost 2,000 Merits.

I just bought one GLADIUS Case! Let's see if I got lucky!!!

Well, unfortunately I wasn't very lucky and opened a standard pack. At least I got 2 new Gladiator Cards that I didn't had before: Isgald Vorst and Helmet Kharafax!

Brawl Virtuous Cicle

Gladiator Cards are a crucial part of what I call the Brawl Virtuous Circle.

You can only buy GLADIUS Packs with Merits, you can only win Merits by playing and winning Brawls, and Gladiator Cards are incredibly powerful Monsters that can only be used on Brawls and can easily tip the match in your favour.

The more Gladiator Cards you have, the more Brawls you'll win, meaning that you'll earn even more Merits and be able to open even more GLADIUS Packs!

If you're in a Guild, try to participate on each and every Brawl. If you're able, rent powerful cards in order to win the Brawl Matches and farm more Merits!

This is definitely NOT financial, legal or investment advice. You wouldn't get your financial advice from a squirrel, would you? Cryptocurrencies are very volatile, so don't invest what you can't afford to lose.
Also, believe it or not, I'm not actually a squirrel! This handsome rodent in my profile picture is a character from 'Conker: Live & Reloaded'. Here's Real Life me!
