Do you even care about excellence?
I ranted to Cyn about how few people value excellence. They seem to actively avoid it.
Even empire-builders do this, & it's often their downfall.
They settle for whatever's handy. Whatever's familiar. Whatever's 'good enough. But you can't create excellence with NON-excellent teams & tools.
𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧'𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.
You have to VALUE excellence, & KNOW it when you see it.
Most leaders get stuck with a mediocre photographer on their team. Why? 'Cause they failed to ensure EXCELLENT TALENT. In fact, they often don't educate themselves enough to even recognize it when they see it.
Or they DO hire a talented musician, but he turns out to be a shit TEAMMATE. Why? 'Cause, the leader didn't ensure they were an EXCELLENT one. The leader didn't bother to learn what an excellent teammate even consists of.

If you're having trouble getting peeps in a certain role, it may be 'cause you don't value excellence enough.

Tony Robbins started out well. He himself was excellent. But as time went on, he built a team of 'Robbins Coaches', and they are far, far worse than he is. They are NOT excellent. And it shows.
Tony allowed people who aren't sensitive to excellence to do his hiring. So, mediocrity seeped in.
Steve Jobs went hardcore on excellence. He prioritized it in himself, & his team. ("Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected.")
Now don't get me wrong, Tony is amazing. A genius. Had a huge impact on my life. But... you can see the difference between the quality Apple puts out, and what Tony puts out, right?

You deserve an empire of excellence.
And you can have it if you recognize excellence when you see it. If you value excellence enough. ⠀⠀
