Bits of paradise - Quinta da Regaleira, Portugal.

I have visited Quinta da Regaleira a few times already and each time it amazes me. Of course the impressions was the strongest the first time, but with every next visit I still discover something I didn't see. Maybe it wasn't there the last time, or I didn't notice it. There is so many paths, caves, narrow stairs it almost feels impossible to be in every of those places in one go. You do get a map at the entrance to keep track, but most of the times it is just "walk ahead where it looks nice" :).

Why didn't I take the usual photos of buildings you may ask.
One because I like the unusual ones, and two because there were o many people that it would look very messy.
I like contrasting bits. Less obvious details.
And three - there is plenty of those online if you drop the name into google search. Why not something else then?

Another secret passage, thick walls and stairs only to come in another level filled with plants, statues and more paths to discover.

Small weeds, ferns and mosses grow everywhere. They cover rocks walls, and old branches. The high humidity and frequent rains help here. The place is much more humid than the nearby areas.

And hen you manage to find some clearance, you might see Castelo dos Mouros on top of the mountain. A place I still didn't see from up close.
