Badger Pair Comes Out In Early Spring Snow

Owing to the unseasonably cold temperatures with colder than usual as well as longer lasting winters, the Springtime continues to feel like winter with snow still falling on a semi-regular basis.

The sett of the European Badger pair (Meles Meles) has seen activity despite the early spring snow and both the badgers, as well as the resident wood rat, came out to do their nighttime rounds. The badgers also used the snow as a source of hydration.

The video is a compilation of videos captured by the trail camera pointed at the main entrance to the badger pair’s sett. It mostly shows the badgers coming out or going back in to the sett. Despite excessive excavating of the soil around the entrance by the invading boar who came to mate with the sow, the badgers still crawl under the root crossing the entrance.

The background music used as the backing track for the video compilation is my own guitar solo. It was performed by me during a live event where it was also recorded. There is no studio recording of this tune.
