Weekly shopping : looking for cheap onions with good quality | by @maytom

In this interesting post, @maytom tells us about how she does her groceries and food purchases in general, because depending on the product, she goes to specific places. In this case, he takes us shopping at a traditional Indonesian market, located in his city Kota bInjai, where there are more offers. The prices she found range from $1.5 to $2.00. There she compares prices and chooses the ones she likes the most, something she cannot do in supermarkets, where the onions are already packaged. He makes this purchase every two weeks, since he keeps the onions outdoors and it is a food that is kept in good condition in this way.

Tu Veggie Shopping (Onions)| Variety of Onions to choose | by @aurodivys

If someone enjoys buying fruits and vegetables it's @aurodivys; and for this he goes to a supermarket called Fruver, which is located in Bogotá, where the offer of products is very wide. She tells us about the particular way in which onions are called in Colombia, since they are generally called stubborn onions, and chives are called long onion. There they are also surprised because they categorize onions as dirty and washed. He bought white onion, purple onion and chives, at very cheap prices, since the kilo of onion ranges between $0.35 and $1.00.

Veggie Shopping Onions🧅 | by @denissemata

To participate in the community contest, @denissemata went to the Rio supermarket, which is close to her house. There he saw two types of onions for sale: the white onion and the purple one, with notably different prices from each other. While the white onion is priced at $1.08 per kilo, the purple one reaches a value of $2.17 per kilo. She opted to buy both, and she also shared some great suggestions for cooking them.

Your Veggie Shopping. Let's go shopping for Onions! | by @marlyncabrera

If anyone made a great vegan contest entry, it was @marlyncabrera. She made a great post, where she told us about how she learned from her family about the flavors, textures, uses, and properties of this vegetable. She also took us to her garden, where she introduced us to her beautiful parrot Paco, and her beautiful ciboullete plant, a delicate variety of onion that is also known as garlic chives, and which she uses a lot in her recipes.

She also took us to two places to shop for onions. The first place we visited with her was a Vegetable Fair (Los Gochos), where she was able to buy small yellow onions, at $0.72 per kilo, she also bought red or purple onions, at $1.6 per kilo. We also took a look at the chives there, but she didn't buy it because she already had it at home. She even showed us the truck where these merchants transport the merchandise from places far away from their city.

Then we continued shopping at another establishment, in this case a supermarket (New Market), where she bought larger yellow onions, at $0.90 per kilo.

When she got home, one of the people in charge of the quality control of the purchases, Ms. Horacia, who is one of her cats (the other person in charge is Ms. Canela), approved 100% of the purchase of onions from @marlyncabrera

Likewise, she offered us excellent tips for its conservation and storage.

For the great post that @marlyncabrera has made, she deserves to be the super winner of this week's vegan challenge, for which the Plant Power Vegan community gives her a gift of 500 @ecency points. A super winning post!

🌺Participating in the weekly onion shopping contest at Aceh's traditional market🌺 | by @yulia-hive

After her absence without posting in the community, @yulia-hive has returned to the vegan community, and although she already shared great recipes with us the week before, she decided to participate in the vegan challenge, for which she made a nice post, in the one who takes us shopping at a traditional market, which is held on Saturdays in his Aceh town. There she bought onions and garlic, and found good prices, since the kilo of onions is $1.11. She also gave us very good tips to store these vegetables outside the fridge, so that they last a long time.

Your Veggie Shopping || Onion. [Esp-Eng] | by @theresa16

Although @theresa16 does her vegetable shopping on Saturdays, she went last Sunday to do her shopping, but she did not go, as is her custom, to the Municipal Market, due to the dangerousness of the site, she would not have been able to take photos there; so she decided to go to a supermarket ("Tesco Center Sucre, C.A"), where she could buy white onions and chives. The prices he found range from $0.88 to $2.37 per kilo. He also offered us valuable suggestions for the use of this vegetable, how to buy it and how to store it.

My Veggie Shopping ! ONIONS | by @mergusa88

@mergusa88's first post in the Plant Power (Vegan) community, was her entry into the vegan challenge, for which she made a good post. To do this, she visited three commercial establishments (Rattan Plaza, Family Market and Supermercado Río), where she reviewed the prices and availability of onions (white, red and chives), finding the best prices in the last establishment (Río). There she saw that the kilo of white onions was at 1.08; although she also told us that previously, she bought from some street vendors who were in a truck on one of the streets of her city, for which she paid $0.28 per kilo of small white onions.

My vegan shopping // Onions (Eng-Esp) | by @parauri

On this occasion, @parauri takes us to a small store located near her apartment, where she went to buy onions. She was curious about the name that in Colombia they call white onions, which in that country are called egg onions. Purple onions in that country are called purple onions. She also really liked that she can get both white and purple onions on offer, because it is a vegetable that she consumes a lot at home, both for food and to make natural medicine, and even insect repellent. The price she found is $1.08 per kilo.
