Welcome to my blog again. I am so glad that you are here. Today i would like to share the recipe of bottle gourd curry which is a nuturious meal and comfort food .



Bottle gourd which also known as ghiya or dudhi is an ingredient which is mostly disliked by all because of its blend taste. But when we check the bottle gourd benefits , we will feel like that we should include it in our diet. We can make many delicious recipe by using bottle gourd. Previously i share the recipe of bottle gourd kofta recipe , but we can't have this kofta always because it is too oily.

Today i am going to share the recipe which is easy to make and also light and healthy recipe made with some basic ingredients; bottle gourd, onion, green chilli and some spices. It consumed less oil and gives lots of health benefits. I also add some other ingredients to make it tasty so everyone will like it.
This curry can be enjoyed with chapati and daal. It is best to have it in dinner because of it low calories. It make the meal complete and nuturious. You can also enjoyed it with rice.

Ingredients ✅

  • Bottle gourd 1 medium
  • Onion 1
  • Green chilli 1
  • Garlic 3-4 cloves
  • Ginger 1/2 tsp
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Hing 1 pinch
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Coarinder powder 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon ( optional)

Method to make bottle gourd curry ✅

Step 1 :

First take a bottle gourd , peal it and cut into small pieces. If you want to make it in the pressure cooker cut in big pieces otherwise cut in small pieces.

Wash it properly and after that drain all the excess water.

Step 2 :

Now take other ingredients and chopped them like this or how you like. There is no rule in cooking.

Step 3 :

Take a pan , heat oil in it.

When the oil gets hot add cumin seeds, musterd seeds and hing one by one.

Now add chopped onion , garlic, green chilli and grated ginger in it. First add garlic and then other ingredients.

Roast all for 1 minute on the low to medium flame.

Step 4 :

Now add chopped bottle gourd in the pan.

Add salt and turmeric powder and give it a good mixture. You can see a nice coating of turmeric on the bottle gourd.

cook it for till bottle gourd gets soft. It takes 3-4 minutes. You can also add little water to cook it.

When it become soft add red chilli powder, turmeric powder , garam masala and mix well . Cook for 1 minute.

Your bottle gourd curry is ready. You can add 2 drops lemon juice and garnish it with coriander leaves.

Serve it with daal , chapati or rice.

Tip: always add side ingredients to make this curry, like onion , tomato, green chilli etc. so it gets nice flavour and everyone enjoyed it.
