Let's make a delicious and nutritious "pumpkin malluma".

Good morning to all my dear friends! How are you all doing? Today, I’ve brought another delicious recipe to share with you—Pumpkin Mallum. Pumpkin is a common vegetable used in Sri Lankan cuisine, and many dishes are prepared with it. In many households, pumpkin curry is a popular dish, and it's considered a perfect pairing with rice. However, I’ve prepared it as a mallum (a stir-fry or salad). When it comes to its nutritional benefits, pumpkin is rich in vitamins A, C, and E, which are essential for boosting immunity. This dish is not only suitable for adults but also for children, making it a highly nutritious meal for the whole family.

So, let's see how to prepare this flavorful and healthy dish!

Required Ingredients...

🍀 Pumpkin 100g.
🍀 Drumstick leaves.
🍀 1/2 Cup of Grated Coconut.
🍀 A few chopped green chillies.
🍀 About 4 cloves of garlic.
🍀 Some curry leaves
🍀 Onion, finely chopped.
🍀 Salt as needed.
🍀 1 1/2 Tablespoon of coconut oil.
🍀 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder.
🍀 1/3 teaspoon of Mustard seed.

Method of making....

First, wash and clean the pumpkin well, then slice it thinly. After cutting, place the sliced pumpkin in a pan, add a pinch of turmeric powder, and cook it on the stove for about 5 minutes until it softens slightly.

In the meantime, thinly slice the onions and green chilies. Also, wash and clean the drumstick leaves thoroughly to ensure they are ready for use in the dish.

Next, take a stone mortar and pestle, and add the onions, garlic, green chilies, and curry leaves. Pound them well until you form a smooth paste. After that, add the freshly grated coconut and turmeric powder to the mixture and continue pounding to create a well-blended coconut mixture.

After that, take a pan and place it on the stove. Add about 1 1/2 tablespoons of coconut oil and allow it to heat. Once the oil is hot, add the mustard seeds and let them splutter. When the mustard seeds start to pop, add the prepared coconut mixture and sauté it for about 1 1/2 minutes, stirring continuously to blend the flavors.

Next, add the steamed pumpkin pieces to the pan with the coconut mixture. Mix everything well to ensure the pumpkin is evenly coated with the coconut and spices. Keep stirring gently until all the ingredients are well combined.

Then, add the cleaned drumstick leaves to the mixture and stir gently for about a minute, allowing the leaves to blend with the rest of the ingredients. After mixing, remove the pan from the heat. Your delicious pumpkin mallum is now ready to serve!
