Hello, friends, community, and fellow vegan lovers! greetings.
I am glad to share my recipe for vegan barbecue sauce which I made for the first time. It may seem complicated with many ingredients, but making your own food means you know exactly what goes into it (eg. no additives, chemicals, or preservatives.) Taking the time and love to create your own food is definitely worth it!
Ingredients:
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 ts chili flakes
1 ts salt
1 tsp chili powder.
first we put a few ingredients together in a bowl.
tomato ketchup, mustard, cumin powder, chili flakes, chili powder, and salt.
chop 1 onion and 3 cloves of garlic.
Here are all the ingredients that make the barbeque sauce.
our ketchup mixture
1 chopped onion
3 cloves of garlic chopped
1.5 tbsp/30 grams of jaggery or brown sugar
1.5 tbsp oil
1.5 tbsp vinegar
1.5 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt.
Pour the oil into a warm skillet. Tip: Mustard oil is better, or sesame oil is okay. If you don't have any of the above, use whatever oil you like.
I use mustard oil.
Add chopped onion and garlic.
stir well.
Mix the ketchup and spices thoroughly.
Add the ketchup mixture to the skillet when the onion becomes translucent.
stir well.
Add soy sauce
Jaggery/brown sugar
Salt and pepper saving some salt.
Vinegar
and water. Cook on medium heat until thicker.
remove from heat. the barbeque sauce is ready.
I used it to make a kohlrabi steak with carrots and chanterelle mushrooms we picked from the forest. Later, I added some potatoes.
Peel and cut kohlrabi into halves, making cross cuts on each half. Do the same with the carrots. Sprinkle with salt and pepper
pour a little oil in the same skillet.
Place the kohlrabi in the skillet and cook them on medium heat on both sides.
Cut potatoes in squares making cuts on each piece.
cook them together with kohlrabi. remove everything from the skillet.
Now add the chanterelle and carrots and cook them.
Remove chanterelle from skillet and place all kohlrabi and potato together with the carrots and spread barbeque sauce on them evenly. sprinkle some parsley or coriander on top.
I put a little more sauce on the mushrooms they were too spicy
for my husband. So I stirred in some coconut milk.
Serve according to your choice.
Thank you.
