Spicy Tofu Soup For Flu Days

For us, spicy soupy food is the best to reduce flu. Oh, soo comfortable!

Hi, flu day. I got it from my husband. Lol. Our noses feel filled with disgusting mucus. If only my throat and ears also suffer.

Usually, my husband will buy spicy fruits salad, really spicy. But for a couple days, my husband couldn't even go out of the house. So, he asked me to make something spicy.

I was looking for ideas for a while. Aha! How about tofu? We also don't have an appetite. So, tofu will help fill our stomachs to be more full.

In this recipe, I also use ginger which will warm our bodies even more. Besides, I also have our favorite vegetables in stock. Oh, this will be a great idea for us who have a cold.

If you are not a fan of spicy food, then you can omit the chili powder ingredients for this recipe. So, stay tuned for spicy treats!


THE INGREDIENTS

-150 grams of white tofu

  • 100 grams of broccoli
  • 1 pakchoy or your favorite veggies
  • 2 cups water

Seasoning

  • a thumb-size of ginger, cut into matchsticks
  • 3 cloves of garlic, sliced
  • 5 small cloves of red onion, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of sweet soy sauce
  • celery and spring onion


COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare the tofu. Cut into pieces, I cut the tofu into dice. You can also cut the tofu into triangles. But make sure the tofu pieces are not too small so that the tofu does not fall apart.

Prepare the vegetables to be used. Here, I cut the broccoli and pak choy. For pak choy, cut them into only two pieces per leaf so that they do not fall apart or become too soft when added to the soup with the tofu and broccoli.

Heat a little cooking oil, then add sliced ​​garlic, sliced ​​red onion, and ginger. Stir-fry over low heat so that they will form a delicious spice oil. Cook until they become fragrant.

Add all seasoning (Salt, sugar, chili powder, sweet soy sauce), and cook briefly until caramelized.

Add 1 cup of water, then bring them to a boil.

Add tofu and all veggies except chopped celery and chopped spring onion. Then, cook for five minutes on medium heat.

Just before removing from heat, add chopped celery and chopped spring onion.

Serve the spicy tofu soup while it's still warm! Whoaaaaa, super spicy but makes us feel better with this uncomfortable flu!
