@justclickindiva/becoming-the-protege-of-my-favorite-fictional-character--anyanwu-of-wild-seed-or-hive-book-club-community-contest-10

When I think about my favorite fictional character, I immediately think of science-fiction and fantasy. In these genres, from my readings, I feel females are explored thoroughly that reveal their emotional and leadership qualities. Stepping out of the constraints of their physical worlds in terms of strength, these women are extraordinary in their approach to small and large scale problems in their fantasy realms. One such female that stands out and whose light shines brilliantly for me is "ANYANWU".

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas tells the story of Bruno, a nine-year-old boy who takes the move from Berlin to Auschwitz very badly when his father, a Nazi officer, receives the order from Hitler himself to supervise the concentration camp located in this Polish region. Unaware of the tragedy taking place a few kilometers from his new home, Bruno tries to adapt to these changes, but one day he discovers that from the window of his room he can see several people behind a barbed wire fence, all wearing the same striped clothing. Moved by curiosity and a thirst for adventure, the boy approaches the extermination camp one day and meets Shmuel, a Jewish boy his age, with whom he soon strikes up a friendship through the barbed wire.

This wasn’t so easy to think of. I’ve had a lot of favourite fictional characters. Characters that have affected me in one way or another or I was just in awe of their charisma, wit, resilience, fearlessness and rebellion (the good kind, that involves defying societal or familial impossible expectations). I wish I could say that these characters are men, but since most of the books I’ve read have women playing the lead role, my favourite characters are usually them. Offering my sincerest apology to all the fictional men of the world. Y’all still make my heart beat in the best of ways, lol.

@iskawrites/learning-courage-business-acumen-and-persuasion-from-my-favorite-fictional-character-kate-blackwell

If I met Kate Blackwell, there are lots of things I would say to her. I would ask her to teach me how she gained the courage to finally go to school even when she did not want to have anything to do with an educational institution. She was a brave girl and very intelligent for her age and no matter how much her mum pleaded with her to go to school, she stood her ground and acted all boyish, throwing away anything that made her girlish in the gutter.

@elentiyaroberts/the-magic-of-fantasy

Aelin’s character is a fierce and courageous character albeit broken. She possesses the strength to go on and she is my fire breathing queen that loves her kingdom so much and would sacrifice anything to see her loved ones saved. If i meet Aelin the first thing i would ask her to do is make me a crown of fire🤣. I know how that sounds but hey! A girl got dreams. I would go on tour with her through her home town Terresan and she would tell me about all the things she love about it. I would ask her to teach me her swagger steps and her sassy tone that she uses when she wants to appear brave and put her opponent down.

What is Hive Book Club?

Hive Book Club is a community made by book lovers, for book lovers. A place where the chaotic minds of writers may punch away words from their keyboards as they share their writing adventures. Where passionate book collectors may rummage through their stacks of books to share and review their latest additions. Outside of our regular curation process, we may create contests for our community to participate in, and earn even more from their posts. If you have a certain theme for a future contest you would like to see, let us know! Be sure to check with us frequently on our various social media platforms to avoid missing out!

How Do We Choose The Highlighted Posts?

For those of you curious as to how you may have been chosen or would like to be chosen in the future in one of these compilations: we scan through the community and read the many posts that the community members write. We then select four or five posts that we believe meet certain criteria and are worthy of sharing with the rest of the community. We aim to keep these selections diverse in style, from writing skills or subject matter.

Hence, throughout the week, the moderators will check the community and manually handpick the posts. Some factors include the post subject, post quality, engagement, personal voice, and general effort. If we choose you, or you happen to stumble across these highlights, please do check out the other posts we feature, and contribute to their curation and engagement!
