"Diane, since I was little, books have attracted me in an irresistible way. But this was always my favorite, that a person as good as your mother knew how to put it in my hands, so that I I discovered in it how important a book can be for children. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. With love from Ingrid."
The The previous words were the dedication written by my neighbor when she gave me this beautiful book. It was one of the first children's books I enjoyed. I still remember my mom reading it to me and I've lost count of how many times I reread it. The silly stories are a masterpiece by Raúl Martínez written between 1967 and 1969. Raúl Martínez has been one of the most important Cuban painters. This book was published by the Abril Editorial House (one of the best in the country), in Havana in 1996. This publication is made up of 14 short stories. My three favorite stories are Alice's Little House, Sad, the Sad Cat and My Bandit Lizard. All the stories allow, in simple language, for young children and adults to reflect on different topics such as childhood imagination and innocence, sadness, love and abuse of animals, how we define ourselves, disappointment, betrayal and much more.
