Buenos días a todos. Hoy tengo el gusto de compartir mi participación en este 34° Concurso Hispaliterario convocado por @hispapro, @jesuspsoto, @celfmagazine, @literatos, y @writingclub.
El tema de este concurso está inspirado en el Día Mundial del Libro, que se celebró este 23 de abril, y consiste en un cuento cuyo contexto será la figura de un libro como conflicto o situación inicial. Cada participante va a desarrollar su composición en forma real o imaginaria, y de manera libre. Agradecida por la invitación del equipo @hispaliterario y mi amiga @brujita18, y la extiendo a mis amigas, @belkyscabrera, @cirangela y @mercmarg. EL LEGADO
— ¿Don Miguel? ¡Buenas noches! ¿Adónde va a estas horas? Ya es muy tarde para deambular por estas desoladas calles. Mire la hora que es.
Le decía yo con preocupación a Don Miguel de Cervantes, al mismo tiempo que veía las agujas de mi reloj que marcaban un poco más de la medianoche. Hacía demasiado frío, por lo que le presté mi chaqueta para abrigarlo y ayudarlo a regresar a su humilde vivienda en la calle Francos. No sé exactamente cómo llegué yo a aquel derrotero, pero me detuve a preguntar algo en una librería de ésas en donde venden de todo un poco, y me agarró la noche revisando viejas bibliografías que le pudieran dar un poco de luz a mi proyecto.
Mientras lo conducía hasta su vieja morada, él iba balbuceando algunas frases que no lograba entender bien, y ya frente a su puerta me invitó a pasar, una vez que la abrió con cierta dificultad. Yo me negué porque me parecía que ya era muy tarde, pero él insistió y lo complací. Ya dentro del recinto, un tanto desordenado, libros y papeles por doquier, me dijo:
— ¿Qué hacías en esa vieja librería a estas horas?
— Estoy tratando de publicar mi primer libro de poemas pero todavía no encuentro la manera, buscaba algunas editoriales conocidas dentro de los libros ya editados, —le respondí.
— ¡Qué bueno, muchacha! ¿Y ya tienes algo concreto? Digo, ¿tu libro tiene cuerpo? —me preguntó mientras revolvía entre sus papeles, utilizando sólo su mano derecha, y creando un poco más de desorden en el lugar.
— Sí, tengo dos obras listas, pero aún no sé si pueda sacarlas al público. A veces pienso que me va a tomar toda la vida, —recalqué con desdén.
Y él mirándome fijamente me entregó una lista de personas que podía contactar para que me asesoraran, diciéndome:
— “Jamás bajes la guardia, persevera, habrá momentos muy buenos como el que viví con la primera parte del Quijote, pero también vendrán desilusiones como la que tuve al sacar la continuación de mi historia estrella… y heme aquí, dejando mis últimas fuerzas en las líneas del Persiles, que sé que será un éxito, pero quizás ya no viva para ver sus frutos. De igual manera, mi corazón me dice que debo seguir insistiendo, porque aún después de mi muerte, estaré a tiempo de alcanzar la mayor gloria de un escritor”.
Después de escuchar estas palabras de labios de un ilustre como Don Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, sentí que me estaba llevando el mejor de los legados, sus consejos, las ideas más brillantes transmitidas de escritor a escritor. Me fui emocionada a mi casa, que ni siquiera recuerdo dónde quedaba, pero allá iba yo calle arriba, contenta con aquella experiencia, única en la vida… y como impulsada por un rayo, desperté de mi sueño, y corrí a mi portátil a escribir aquella hermosa historia, y a poner en marcha todos los sabios consejos recibidos de aquel genio de las letras.

THE LEGACY
— Don Miguel? Good evening! Where are you going at this hour? It's too late to wander these desolate streets. Look at the time.
said with concern to Don Miguel de Cervantes, at the same time that I saw the hands of my watch showing a little after midnight. It was too cold, so I lent him my jacket to keep him warm and help him return to his humble home on Francos Street. I don't know exactly how I got there, but I stopped to ask for something in one of those bookstores where they sell a little bit of everything, and I was caught in the night looking through old bibliographies that could shed some light on my project.
While I was driving him to his old house, he was babbling some phrases that I could not understand well, and already in front of his door he invited me in, once he opened it with some difficulty. I refused because it seemed to me that it was already too late, but he insisted and I obliged him. Once inside the room, a bit messy, books and papers everywhere, he asked me:
— What were you doing in that old bookstore at this hour?
— I'm trying to publish my first book of poems but I still can't find a way, I was looking for some well-known publishers among the books already published, —I answered.
— That's great, girl! And you already have something concrete? I mean, does your book have a body? —she asked me while shuffling through her papers, using only her right hand, and creating a little more clutter in the place.
— Yes, I have two works ready, but I don't know if I can release them to the public yet. Sometimes I think it's going to take me forever, —I remarked with disdain.
And he stared at me and handed me a list of people I could contact for advice, saying:
"Never let your guard down, persevere, there will be very good moments like the one I lived through with the first part of Don Quixote, but there will also come disappointments like the one I had in bringing out the continuation of my star story... and here I am, leaving my last strength in the lines of Persiles, which I know will be a success, but perhaps I will no longer live to see its fruits. In the same way, my heart tells me that I must continue to insist, because even after my death, I will still be in time to achieve the greatest glory of a writer".
After hearing these words from the lips of an illustrious man like Don Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, I felt that I was taking with me the best of legacies, his advice, the most brilliant ideas transmitted from writer to writer.
I went excited to my house, which I do not even remember where it was, but there I went up the street, happy with that experience, unique in life ... and as if driven by lightning, I woke up from my dream, and ran to my laptop to write that beautiful story, and to put into action all the wise advice received from that genius of letters.
