Split reflections ice/water Reflection Hunters #146

Mount Moosalamoo

Reflections on ice.

This is my entry for Reflection Hunters round 146 #reflections hosted by the Shadow Hunters community and @olgavita.

From shore

The reason the reflections were special is that they are only on the ice 😱 The lake isn't frozen over yet so the ice only extends part way out from the shore.

Spot of snow

The ice is smooth and creating reflections. The water beyond has ripples and no reflection. I thought it was kind of a neat effect. Actually I think because of the warm weather, the ice had a thin layer of water on top of the ice that was creating the reflections.

Shoreline

All these photos were taken yesterday at Lake Dunmore in Addison County, Vermont. Lake Dunmore is split between the towns of Salisbury and Leicester. Lake Dunmore has a surface area of 985 acres, is 3 miles long and up to 1 mile wide. The southern end is pretty shallow but there a part of the lake that is 105 feet deep. There are small hydroelectric dams on the stream feeding the lake and again on the river below the lake but not on the lake itself. The lake is recreational with boating and fishing. There are also three youth camps on the lake. The oldest, Keewaydin, was founded in 1910.
