Final home repairs continue - Extending the air conditioner

Hello to everyone here! How are you? I guess we are all the same, we spend the year without seeing things that we have to put heart in our home, until December arrives, date to do everything to have our nice and beautiful corner to feel happy. Well, something like that happened to me, although I must say that I have been doing things to my house for months, because I always want to be inventing useful things. What really happened is that last month, in November, I put turbo to everything. All my free afternoons were very busy until late at night, because I had a deadline to finish everything, since the family group was coming, in total we would be 5 people, and we had to be as comfortable as possible. Also, one of the most important things for me, was to make an extension of the air conditioning duct because I enjoy the cold, and the heat overwhelms me. So we came up with the idea of projecting air to the second floor, from the exit that leads to the living room of the apartment.

Me imagino que todos somos iguales, pasamos el año sin ver cosas qué hay que ponerle corazón en nuestro hogar, hasta que llega diciembre, fecha de hacer todo para tener nuestro rincón lindo y bello para sentirnos felices. Bueno, algo así me pasó, aunque debo decir que llevo meses haciéndole cosas a mi casa, porque siempre quiero estar inventando cosas útiles. Lo que sucede es que realmente el último mes, en noviembre, le metí turbo a todo. Ya todas mis tardes libres, estaban muy ocupadas hasta altas horas de la noche, porque tenía fecha límite de terminar todo, ya que venía el grupo familiar, en total seríamos 5 personas, y debíamos estar lo más cómodas posibles. Además, una de las cosas más importantes para mí, era hacer un la extensión del ducto del aire acondicionado porque yo disfruto el frío, y el calor me abruma. Así que se nos ocurrió la idea de proyectar aire hacia el segundo piso, desde la salida que da para el living del departamento.

For this, I used aluminum profiles for Drywall, the verticals that give the structure, sheets of Drywall and many screws. The idea was to make an overhang of the existing air, and with ductwork pipes, take it to the next floor. So I called my friend, and he came to help me do all the work, plus, he has knowledge about it, so I needed him. He took care of basically everything, while I was his assistant. I also bought the duct pipes and ran them right into the attic.

Para esto, utilicé perfilería de aluminio para Drywall, los verticales que dan la estructura, láminas de Drywall y muchos tornillos. La idea era hacer un saliente del aire existente, y con tubos de ductería, llevarlo al siguiente piso. Así que llamé a mi amigo, y él vino a ayudarme a hacer todo el trabajo, ademas, él tiene conocimiento al respecto, por lo que lo necesitaba sí o sí. Se encargó de básicamente todo, mientras yo era su ayudante. También compré los tubos del ducto y los pasó directo al ático.

First we had already made a photo montage to preview what we would do and make a decision on what our invention would look like and make it look as good as possible. So we took a before picture, drew it in Photoshop and could have a pretty clear idea of the after.

Primero ya habíamos hecho un foto montaje para previsualizar lo que haríamos y tomar una decisión de cómo sería nuestro invento y que se viera lo mejor posible. Así que tomamos una foto del antes, lo dibujamos en Photoshop y pudimos tener una idea bastante clara del después.

In total, it took us a whole day to place the structure, it is quite difficult to tell the truth, since we must always be checking that it is well leveled and not crooked. So every time a pipe was laid, it was leveled, and if it was uneven, it was repositioned and so on for a few long hours.

En total, nos tardamos un día entero para colocar la estructura, es bastante difícil a decir verdad, ya que debemos siempre estar comprobando que quede bien nivelada y no torcida. Así que cada vez que se ponía un tubo, se nivelaba, y si se desnivelaba, se volvía a acomodar y así por unas largas horas.

After finally having the whole structure ready, we proceeded to close it with the Drywall. The truth is that the Drywall is easy to cut, with a cutter, and then folded and finished cutting. After lining everything, we proceeded to fill the imperfections or screw marks for example.

Luego de al fin tener toda la estructura lista, procedimos a cerrar con el Drywall. La verdad el Drywall se corta fácil, con un cutter, y luego se dobla y se termina de cortar. Luego de forrar todo, procedimos a empastar y así tapar las imperfecciones o marcas de tornillos por ejemplo.

The most annoying part was the sanding, because when you sand, a lot of dust comes out and it is very horrible to breathe that, so I sanded as much as I could using a mask and glasses, and at the end of it all, I painted with white water paint.

La parte más fastidiosa fue la lija, ya que cuando pasas lija, bota muchísimo polvo y es muy horrible respirar eso, así que lijé lo más que pude usando mascarilla y lentes, para al final de todo, pintar con pintura blanca de agua.

It is already 95% finished, I just need to buy the grille that directs the air and it would be super ready! That will soon be what I will do, but the air is already operational, and my attic is at the perfect temperature!

Ya está un 95% terminado, solo me falta comprar la rejilla que direcciona el aire y estaría súper lista! Eso pronto será lo que haga, pero ya el aire está operativo, y mi ático está con la temperatura perfecta!
