The arrival of a diverse medical and missionary team from the United States of America

Today is an amazing weekend somewhere in Nigeria - where the color of our soul is more important than the color of our skin.sourceDuring the week, my church was opportuned to have some medical team that flew into Nigeria from the United States of America. When they arrived at my church, we were happy to welcome and embrace them into our country. Their receptive gesture was overwhelming, causing us to go the extra mile in making sure they are comfortable in our state.

While the church service was ongoing, the team were given an opportunity to share intentions visiting our country; the head of the medical team remarked that they came to offer free medical care for residents in Nigeria - my state (Akwa Ibom) was the focus of the outreach. Furthermore, I got to know that it is a collaborative effort of a global missionary team and the medical team. For the missionary team, pastor Mike came as a representative and in his remark he expressed his joy and love he has for his work (God and humanity), and further stated they will try their possible best to reach out to many people within the vicinity medically.

Their presence triggered a burden in me - to seek a way to contribute to society. Their coming shows how selfless they are in helping and meeting the needs of the common people in Nigeria. Definitely, the medical outreach is important for us because many citizens have died because of no finance to buy drugs for treatment; with this outreach where drugs will freely be dispensed, there is hope that many homes will be revived medically.

Beyond the medical outreach they came for, I learned a crucial lesson from what I saw. There was unity in diversity amongst the team. The team was made up of an Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Philippines and an American. This collaboration sent a message that there is hope for the nation!

In conclusion, as we await the beginning of the outreach of the diverse medical and missionary teams in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, I want to appreciate their sacrifice and love for the Africans, it is not just an act of service but a powerful demonstration of unity and compassion. Sincerely, their efforts in providing free medical care has proven the importance of selflessness for humanity which I have learned and ready to imbibe, more so it has created a profound impact of coming together for a common good. This experience is an inspiration to Africans to discover purpose and contribute to the community.
