What makes us addicted to work?

Do you find yourself constantly busy but still unable to complete all the tasks on your list? Do you work all the time and you seem to achieve nothing? You may actually be addicted to work.

Being constantly busy is actually a choice. You create it yourself, and it's completely unnecessary.

In fact, working less hours, but focused and clear, has more impact than endless work "that won't get you anywhere."
Why do most people in entrepreneurship have some kind of job addiction? Why do they put themselves in the position of being constantly stressed and frustrated by the amount of work they do? Here are some of the reasons:

They do not know the better way, they think that the more they do, the more productive they are. Such people do not have systems to help them automate the process, and they have a team that relies on their ongoing guidance and presence. They believe that being busy is inevitable and actually a good thing. They do not know how to effectively manage their time and delegate roles.

They feel a real passion for the business. Most often, this is the real reason why people get trapped in work. Busy addiction is exactly what another addiction or comfort is: it helps us to relax and feel good in the moment, but once stopped, we are forced to face the discomfort.

Instead of just looking at the symptoms of over-employment, you should address the causes that lead to it. What pain or discomfort are you trying to hide?

Understand what you need to focus on: First, try to figure out which daily activities have the biggest impact on your business without being delegated. These should be the only activities on your to-do list. For others, hire an assistant or delete them from your life.

Consider where your desire for work comes from: We often feel like we have to prove our worth through constant work. Do you feel important and desirable by being constantly busy? Ask yourself where that obsession came from.

There are endless reasons why you might fall into a busy pattern. Find out what the reasons are. Try to get through all the feelings you are facing.

The fact is, you are not your achievement. Busy work can make you feel like you are winning a life, but at the same time, it takes your life without even noticing it.

Understand that the amount of hours you spend on something does not match your success. What truly determines achievement is your performance level and productivity during those hours.

Balancing business and private life is one of the toughest challenges entrepreneurs face. But it is the key to sustainable development and success.
