The Historical Museum of Basel is one of the most important cultural-historical museums on the Upper Rhine, a place of reflection on the present and the future.
However, the middle bridge in Basel became internationally important in the 14th century over the Gotthard Pass. For more than 650 years the middle bridge was the only bridge connecting Big Basel with Little Basel, from the 19th century the construction of a second bridge over the Rhine was necessary, here the view from one bridge to the other one.
