After my Failure with the build of a Molding Box I ordered one and it arrived a few days ago.
Sunday I had the time to set up the first mold.
I wanted to cast the the Keyring with the Hive Logo.
I don't wanted to do the whole process in a cold dark Cellar...
So I decided to do it in my Apartment, I wouldn't recommend that. 😅
I put a tarp over my living room table and filled the box with the sand. ⏳
Afterwards I tried to remove the Keyring and as I already feared the filigree parts in the middle broke.
Anyway I had prepared everything so I wanted to make the cast, to see a result, to make thing better next time.
I placed the Gas stove in my kitchen (the only room with stone floor) and started to melt the Zamak (Iam not sure if it's called like this in English it's a Zinc Alloy). 🔥
I poured the liquid metal into the mold, than comes the most tense moment, the waiting till it cools down. 😬
Meanwhile the stench of burnt oil spread throughout the apartment 🛢️😷
After I while I opened the Molding Box and I was pretty happy with the result.
I have already an idea how I can optimise the Keyring to get a better cast.

Nach meinem Fehlschlag einen Formkasten zu bauen habe ich mir dann einfach einen bestellt, der ist vor ein paar Tagen angekommen.
Sonntag hatte ich dann Zeit meine erste Form vorzubereiten.
Ich wollte den Hive Logo Schlüsselanhänger gießen.
Ich hatte keine Lust das ganze Prozedere in einem dunklen kalten Keller durchzuführen....
Ich habe es dann in meiner Wohnung gemacht, was ich niemandem empfehlen möchte. 😅
Ich habe eine Folie über meinen Wohnzimmer Tisch gelegt und den Sand in die Boxen gefüllt. ⏳
Anschließend habe ich den Schlüsselanhängern dann aus dem Sand geholt und wie ich bereits davor befürchtet hatte brachen dabei die mittleren Teile, da sie einfach zu filigran waren.
Wie auch immer, ich hatte alles bereits vorbereitet und wollte den Guss jetzt wagen um zu sehen was man beim nächsten Mal besser machen könnte.
Ich brachte meinen Gaskocher in der Küche in Stellung (der einzige Raum mit Stein Boden) und ließ das Zamak schmelzen. 🔥
Ich goß das flüssige Metall in die Form, dann kommt der spannenste Moment, das Warten, bis alles abgekühlt ist. 😬
Währenddessen breitete sich der unwiderstehliche Duft von verbranntem Öl in der Wohnung aus 🛢️😷
Nach einiger Zeit habe ich dann die Form geöffnet und war ziemlich zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis.
Ich habe auch schon eine Idee, wie ich den Schlüsselanhänger ändern muss um ein besseren Guss zu erzeugen.
